Also know as 'Inside Battlestar Galactica: The Cylons of Battlestar Galactica', this short companion piece to 'Remembering Battlestar Galactica' is part of the special features on the first release of the boxed set of the series that started it all. It starts with a nice montage of Cylons in action and features most of the principal cast and some of the more prominent directors remembering what it was like to work with the shiny molted plastic and black leotard wearing stunt men. However, none of the football and basketball players that played the Cylons appear - except for a few unmasked behind the scenes shots. Whenever these poor guys weren't being blown up by squibs or drowning in a river on location for 'The Young Lords' (episode 9), they were walking into walls or falling over on their own accord on account of the poor vision they had wearing that famous helmet with the moving visor.
Everybody involved seems to remember the time the entire Cylon phalanx fell over like domino's, but unfortunately that seems to be one of the few outtakes that got lost on the cutting room floor. For the cinematographers it wasn't easy to photograph the Centurions either, as the camera would be reflected in their armor. Carefully chosen angles and zooms from across the studio were used as solutions. It wasn't until some 25 years later on 'Revenge of the Sith' that technology allowed the reflections to be erased digitally form C3P0's extra shiny new costume. The men inside the Cylon costumes always felt hot under those hot studio lights, so they drank a lot of water, which had them running to the bathroom all the time. No wonder the writers gave them a rest and concentrated on other villains after a while. Additionally, as the series went on and more and more costs had to be cut, the production team was told they couldn't blow up any more Cylons, so whenever they had one in the script, a full set of armor had to be scrape together by mixing and matching the good pieces they had left over.
