Alright, So generally I am content with most reviews of movies on IMDb regardless if I agree with them completely or not. Some stupid mom with no sense of humor because she has a child and has to sugar coat life decided to give her two cents. This movie is hysterical. The fact that she tried to tell people to see "underdog" instead completely ruins her credibility as a critic. First of all, "Underdog" was a cartoon. Not only did they kind of ruin it by making it real life rather than, at least, CGI animation, but the dog they cast to play "Underdog" wasn't even the same breed of dog in the cartoon. Stupid lady. Please don't rate comedies if you don't have a sense of humor and didn't understand the jokes. I'm sorry I had to rant about "Underdog", but that lady irritated me and I'm putting a bounty on her head as we speak. Hot Rod is the same type of humor as 40-year-old virgin, Anchorman, Knocked Up...It's more physical humor, not necessarily as creative as Knocked up, but they tried and the relationships and over acting for most of the movie his really funny and so are the accidents. I gave this movie an 8 out of 10 basically because it deserves at least a 7. The actors are pretty funny and if Will Ferrel or someone with that caliber humor was in this movie it would be a 9 out of 10. I'm not going to ruin it by trying to describe the plot. Movies like this don't need plots, they're just funny, they just try to keep you laughing for as long as you can. Basically the take home message is, If you like movies like "Underdog", please don't watch real comedy and think you have the right to criticize it. Stupid stupid lady.
