- Once again, the house next-door is up for sale and Jean is as curious as ever to discover who their new neighbors will be. Little does she know that a surprise question from Alistair may bring them neighbors they never imagined they'd have.—Nadia Nassar
- Lionel arrives flustered carrying a batch of clothes. It is freezing cold outside, and he wishes he had worn gloves. The cleaning is a bunch of stuff they had decided to give to the charity shop. He sends Jean out to get the second batch. Jean announces that the Duncans are moving from next door. They only moved in a few weeks before. Judy is wondering why Sandy is not talking to Harry. Sandy is working on the computer. The doorbell rings. Sandy relaxes on the couch. It was Alastair at the door, not Harry. Alastair wants a rain check on their planned luncheon. He needs to meet a friend called "Nutcase". Judy says she would like to have met the man that could make Alastair feel ordinary. Jean says it is a shame about Sandy and Harry. Lionel says they are bluffing with each other. Jean decides to call Harry, and lies to him about Sandy wanting to see him. Lionel is appalled. Harry arrives and they invite him into the living room. He wants to know where Sandy is. Jean admits Sandy does not know he is there. Lionel and Harry get involved in talking about Rugby. Sandy comes in, and it is an awkward meeting. He tells her Jean phoned. They talk and admit they have missed each other and then wind up in each others arms. Alastair comes in and wants to talk to Judy alone. Lionel and Jean go for a walk. Alastair proposes marriage to Judy in the kitchen. She is a little upset about the way he asked her. She keeps on making coffee. He pleads with her to consider the name "Mrs. Alastair Deacon". Later, Alastair and Lionel are having drinks in a pub, and Alastair asks Lionel if he would mind if he called him "Dad". Judy proposes they buy the house and she and Alastair live next door to Lionel and Jean. In the bedroom, Lionel and Jean are discussing the situation. Back at the pub, Lionel, Harry and Alastair are having a drink and discussing the house next door situation. Lionel advises the two boys to talk frankly to the girls. Sandy comes in and thinks she should move out if Judy and Alastair get married. That night, Jean is reminiscing about how lonely it will be when the girls move out. Sandy is cuddled with Harry and she tells him she does not want him to give up Rugby. Judy and Alastair are talking about having babies. Alastair says his friend Leo is a wreck, a burned out husk of a man, and it is because of that reason, he proposed. Judy is highly upset and advises Alastair to get himself a Nanny. Sandy is moaning to Jean about Harry and Rugby and the fact that cricket season is coming up soon. Judy comes in and tells Jean about Alastair. They are all in bed together, and Lionel comes in, and inquires as to what is wrong. They tell him, and he starts to leave, and they ask him where he is going and he says, "to have another bath".
