I had more fun, making fun at the movie in the theater!...
Elmikee2528 March 2007
Completely filled with clichés. It's not a bad movie; it's just that it could have been way lot better. When i first saw the teaser poster, i thought it was going to bee a raunchy movie about girls doing really nasty stuff since, that's the new fashion in Mexican movie-making: profanity, sex and drugs (it only lacked the drugs element, and that's good, since it's intended for +15 year old girls). Boy was i disappointed; since it doesn't even feel like a romantic comedy; nor a comedy per se: Lame plot, bad jokes, predictable characters, and as always, it doesn't reflect the real Mexican society at it's full...

Again, It's not a bad movie, the photography is decent, and after all Camila Sodi looks beautiful, and you get to see Martha Higareda's Bossoms, from time to time, and Blanca Guerra's still as sexy as when she played "La Bronca".

I recommend watching this film on rental, to really get your money's worth; go see another movie... Maybe Kilometro 31.

A classic stereotype
thelegend_viking14 March 2007
Warning: Spoilers
nothing further than this, the movie is full of stereotypes and its like a copy of those films for brainless teenagers, i would say if you are someone between 14-18 years old and you like the free living style the rebel and stupidity of adolescence, give a shot to niñas mal, otherwise if you have delicate taste for movies and intelligence , the comedy here would be almost insulting, boring.

its ... like those Hollywood films of teens with social troubles and terrible jokes, the classic movie based on some teenager with problems, love, fun and else.

the music is... well, nothing special or relevant, it fix with this movie but again nothing special to considering.

and the way how the school for this ladies was done , is horrible , you cant see the value of the school which had to be some of the main points in this movie.

anyway, its a good movie, just for some audiences, for teenagers and their mod, to those kids without control or social problems , with their parents and things like that.

Sexy, fun but recommended only for a specific audience.
insomniac_rod31 March 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Against my will I went to the theaters to watch "Niñas Mal". You know, sometimes we guys gotta please our girlfriends.

I expected a clichèd chick flick influenced by modern problems of teenagers. To my surprise, I actually ended up liking it.

The movie is fast paced filled with fun scenes and the occasional romantic and gratuitous nudity. So there's something for everyone. I mean, this movie should be watched for 3 reasons:

1) If you are a guy and want to see Martha Higareda naked several times. Yes, she goes topless in at least 4 scenes including a brief sex scene. 2) If you are a girl and want to have fun with your friends. 3) If you are in the mood for watching a mindless but entertaining movie. You know, the kind of movie that invites you to leave your brain at home.

There are many clichès, specially on the characters. The only common denominator of the four lead actresses is their high social status and their so believed "perfect life". But we have the rebel, sexy, sassy girl with an attitude (Higareda), the lesbian cute rocker chick (Sariañana), the intellectual but sexy and strong girl (Sodi), the spoiled, cocky bitch (Adama), and the dumb but noble virgin (Aura). Each character has a colorful personality and their personality is likable. Expect fresh performances specially from Higareda and Sodi. Both girls will be very important in a near future. My only problem with Higareda is that she gets naked with the minimal provocation. I mean, she's hot sexy and everything but her nude scenes are not necessary and do not add anything special to the story. Sariñana delivers a fine performance but her father's intention to promote her music career is way too obvious. She's talented and that's what saves her from criticism. Salvador Sànchez also demonstrates why he's a versatile, serious actor. I like his work. Blanca Guerra steals the show with her performance. The woman is truly an amazing actress. Sànchez Navarro, Victor Gonzàlez, and the rest of the cast do what they have to do correctly.

The direction is really good for being a movie oriented specific for a young audience. The score is also pretty good and fits perfect with the movie's tone.

To be honest, some situations are far from reality specially in Mexican society. For example, the Institution is extremely clichèd and does not even exists. Then, the friendship between all the girls is pure plastic to my eyes. But I understand it's only a movie that tries to entertain at all costs.

Overall, this is a fun movie that will not change your life but surely will make you have a good time. Recommended only if you are in the mood for light entertainment. Otherwise, you will get really annoyed.

Painful
nuzhet17 January 2008
Why? Why? Why on earth no one tells the truth about this horrible, HORRIBLE movie? I still wake up in the morning and ask God why He didn't stopped me from seeing this revolting "comedy". I cant believe I PAID to see this offense to my cinematographic taste. I'm starting to think that the 5 stars it has is because of Martha Higareda 's nudity and all the men who cant buy a porn film and avoid seeing this ... I will call it "thing" cause call it film is an insult to the Mexican film industry. The characters are a huge cliché, the acting causes involuntary laugh and the script is... well, I cant believe a human being wrote this. And just when you thought you've been tortured enough...the last half hour is so painful that I wished to ripped my eyes out. The only good thing I can say about this abomination is that it only last 90 minutes (that would feel like centuries, but still). Really, AVOID THE PAIN!!!

A bunch of teenagers badly acting stupid
futfet11 December 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Niñas Mal is not a movie is a bad episode of a cheesy badly conceived soap opera.

The acting is not a bit better of that in soap operas, I guess the writer and director has seen too many Mexican soap operas and can't conceive anything remotely different.

Give it up, go back to your soap operas so that you have an audience to please.

Stop waisting our time and money and giving a bad name to the once respectable Mexican film industry.

It is NOT an OK or good movie, it's a mediocre soap opera!

All the stereotypes you would expect to find are present
tirkkanen6 February 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Adela is a rebellious teenager with the attitude that she is right and everyone else is wrong. She needs to be the center of attention and she'll act stupid to make it so. With her attitude she gets sent to charm school.

There she meets the typical characters in today's cinema; the nerd, the clumsy one, the stepford housewife and the sexual minority. Things happen and in the end Adela "learns her lesson" so to speak. The plot tries to carry a deeper meaning to the state Adela is in, but utterly fails to deliver (at least I didn't buy it). So what you are left with is superficial interaction within the same stereotypes you've seen in a million movies before. Plus the director seems to have a breast fixation, Adela flashes her boobies a few times too many, at least I can't see that they are relevant to the story.

So the film is OK, but if you are like me and don't like to watch a teenager pissing people off and making a behavioral U-turn in an instant, which I found very unbelievable, think twice before watching.

Bad Girls,Worst Actress
treada731 December 2010
A very, very repeated formula of intern girls and their adventures, this time in a kind of academy for marriageable middle-upper class girls which has the purpose of educate them in order to get the supreme happiness which according with this film only they can get it in the perfect harmony of the marriage and of course the main role of women should always be at the service of their men so we have the rebellious one(Martha Higareda), the naive(Maria Aura),the Intellectual(Camila Sodi),the Snob(Alejandra Adame) and the gay one(Ximena Sariñana)all of them in some way obliged to attend this train for their own family, because they in their eagerness of give them all the material values did not have the time to teach this "behavior model" and now entrust this task to Blanca Guerra, an old rebel redeemed, she hide herself to smoke and has a tattoo.

Fernando Sariñana tried very hard to make believable a low class environment in the film Amarte Duele(2002) with doubtful result(in that time well supported for very good actors ) this time Seems to be very unreal and the actress don't support him nothing at all, the complete movie develops in abrupt way, like Martha Higareda nude, especially at the end of it someone has the impression that scriptwriter don't know how to solve the excesses caused by the rebellious Higareda and they did in so ridiculous way, tedious and unconvincing in order to get the classic happy ending undoubtedly the poorest work of the Irregular Sariñana

The story of Adele is deeper than it seems. A teenager struggles to find her place in society.
drummsplayer7 April 2007
Ninas Mal or Charm School will make you smile and feel good!!! In a very nice pace, Charm School shows a very real part of Mexican society. Yes,it portrays the lives of the upper classes!!! Although the movie might represent wealthy Mexicans as shallow or corrupt, it expresses certain facts and deeper problems of today's society. In the middle of it all, the main characters are real and one could identify with either of them. They go beyond their local scene when they make you think about family, love, sex or politics. And, they make you wonder about yourself and your own life!!! Once more, these people tell you that you have to fight, in this new millennium, for what you believe in!!! A must see!!!

Waste of time

OMG. I saw this movie on net flix.

Thankfully I didn't go to the movies to see this one... bad bad.. in the horrible sense. And my wife's opinion is the same.

As other reviews say, it is full of clichés, predictable scenes, corny dialog, bad jokes, nothing else

The only charm about this one is Camila Sodi. - my wife didn't comment on that :)

I don't know how we stayed awake the whole movie, I guess we where waiting for some unsuspected plot twist... not! I think I'm going to go vomit now.

shocked!
noimosyni5 May 2008
Warning: Spoilers
When I first saw this movie, I said to myself, "Hey what the heck it sounds like a good movie, why not rent it?". So yeah, I rented it and went back home to see it. When I inserted it in my DVD player I was shocked.

Well FIRST of all, no one told me it was a Mexican movie and was spoken in Spanish, good thing it had subtitles.

SECOND, it was nude, nude NUDE! Since I have no background whatsoever in Mexican movies, you could see my shock when I saw it. *GASP! Covering virgin eyes, NOO*

THIRD, predictable to say the least, but actually being it predictable was no excuse to me in liking movies, because I don't seem to care if it's predictable, unless it's way over the top.

FOURTH, how Heidi and Kike were reunited, so cheesy.

FIFTH, how the movie ended. It was a BAD, BAD ending. How Mr. Van der Linde's sudden approval to the mayor's election was because her daughter, knew how to throw the party... BLAH, Blah. I was hoping that he wasn't that easy to accept it, the director might have just rushed it.

After all of this bashing of the bad stuff, the good stuff's are here to come. The movie was actually quite hilarious at some point with Maribel being clumsy in the kitchen and all, Heidi's attitude, Valentina being poetic with words. What I really also like about it was the song that Valentina made with her girl friend. That's all, and for the other stuffs that I haven't mentioned they were just so-so.

Lacks charm, among other things
Wizard-826 December 2016
I got this movie via one of those Mill Creek Entertainment DVD packs that came with three other movies. I decided to watch the movie because I wanted to see what a modern day Mexican comedy was like. After watching it, I have no desire to watch any other offerings from that particular genre. There are many problems with the movie, but what I objected to most of all was the sorry script. Its story is pretty formula and stretched out past the breaking point. Actually, that might have not been so bad had there been plenty of funny gags along the way, but that's not the case. For one thing, the movie comes off more like a somewhat lighthearted drama than a comedy, and when the movie DOES try to be funny, the gags are lame and obvious. It doesn't help that the central character is quite obnoxious, so there's nothing funny about her. Also, I feel I should mention that if it weren't for the occasional uses of nudity and foul language, I would have sworn that this was a made for television effort instead of a feature film; the movie's low budget is painfully evident throughout. The best I can say for the movie is that it isn't as bad as most of the movies coming from my country (Canada).
