The story is quirky and unusual. It is funny and dark and sweet all at the same time. And the music is fantastic! The main characters fall in love and journey through Los Angeles. They are misfits but they find each other. So many movies have idealized characters. This characters are real and raw and honest with each other, but a lot is also left unsaid. The two share nuts and berries, which is not glamorous, but just something they enjoy together. The music is whimsical and the folk finger adding his songs - sung live - in various random places, adds an even more musical feel. There is a dark ending, but it has an odd otherworldliness about it too. To say more, would be to give away the ending, so I won't do that.
