Mark Sanger: Chief, we have the contact; he's following us.
Robert T. Ironside: All right. When he stops, you stop.
Mark Sanger: Aye, aye.
Robert T. Ironside: In my navy, Mark, it was '"Aye, aye, Sir.' And try not to make a Chinese landing when you park this bucket.
Mark Sanger: I'll try, Skipper, but what's a Chinese landing?
Robert T. Ironside: I thought you were an old salt.
[a few seconds of silence]
Mark Sanger: Our man just parked, Chief.
[a thump, & the Chief is jostled around]
Mark Sanger: Sorry, Chief, ran into the curb.
Robert T. Ironside: *That* is a Chinese landing!
As it later turns out Yuri was a spy for the CIA and with his cover about to be blown made a run for freedom which ended up with him running into oblivion. Or so it seemed. Well it's soon found out by Ironside that Yuri planned to hook up with his sweetheart Hungarian woman track & field runner Irene Novas, Ingrid Pitt, who's been in the USA for two years after she jumped ship and was offered asylum by the US State Department and Immigration Service. Now the trick is for Ironside and his friend in the CIA top secret US Government Agent Marlon Davis, Edward Asner, to make sure that the KGB Agent Zarkov, Steve Ihnat, don't get his hands on both Yuri and Irene before the US Government can find a safe place for the two lovebird to stay with new and untraceable identities.
***SPOILERS*** In a game of "Cat and Mouse" or better yet "Three Card Montie" Ironside lays low the KGB by switching the just kidnapped by the KGB Yuri's, who's alive but drugged, body at the local funeral home where he, as an unnamed Soviet diplomat, was slated for burial. We never get to see Yuri but are told that he was secretly shipped out of Soviet KGB custody right under the nose of KGB Kgent Zarkov and his Soviet henchmen. Zorkov who together his fellow KGB goons were informed that Yuri was cremated so he, in being dead, couldn't be shipped back alive to the Soviet Union to face a Russian firing squad for treason against his country.
P.S In fact Yuri is alive and well as well as in the Whiteness Protection Program in the USA and is soon slated to marry his sweetheart Irene Novas on the 14th. That's on February 14th Valentine Day!
