I thought that THE BROKEN EAR was one of the better episodes of THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN. The two-part story features more plot, more mystery, and less action than some of the other episodes, but is no less intriguing as a result. Tintin's adventures begin when a South American idol is stolen from a museum and seemingly returned a short time later, but of course it turns out that the idol has been replaced with a copy and Tintin is soon on the trail of the thieves.
THE BROKEN EAR offers up the usual globetrotting and adventure, not to mention death-defying escapes, but it all seems a little more grounded than usual. I enjoyed the clue of the parrot in the first episode and the remorseless nature of the villains hot on Tintin's tail. The second episode culminates in a number of chases, near-misses, and plentiful action bits which don't disappoint. Snowy is a colourful presence as always and the Thompson Twins have a cameo.
