- Pee-wee Herman: Hi, Reba!
- Reba: Hi, Pee-wee.
- Pee-wee Herman: Hey, any penpal letters for me today?
- Reba: Well, I don't know. Let me look.
- [everyone screams]
- Pee-wee Herman: You said the secret word, Reba!
- Reba: Oh! I love it! I knew I'd say that secret word sooner or later. Which word was it?
- Pee-wee Herman: Look.
- [everyone screams again]
- Reba: [laughs] Oh, let me say it again. Look.
- [everyone screams again]
- Reba: Look.
- [everyone screams again]
- Reba: Look.
- [everyone screams again]
- Reba: Look.
- [everyone screams again]
- Reba: Oh, I must say, Pee-wee. That's very entertaining, but I have to get back to work. Here's your mail.
- [gives Pee-wee his mail]
- Pee-wee Herman: Thanks, Reba.
- Reba: Bye-bye!
- Pee-wee Herman: Bye!
- Reba: [goes out the door, then comes back, opens the door, and sticks her head inside] Look!
- [everyone screams again]
- Pterri: You don't think Mrs. Steve really saw a monster, Pee-wee?
- Pee-wee Herman: No, there's no such things as monsters.
- Globey: I'm scared anyway.
- Magic Screen: Me too.
- Pterri: Me three.
- Chairry: Me four, Pee-wee. What if he comes in and wants to sit on me?
- Pee-wee Herman: Then he'll just have to sit on Dog Chair if he comes in, Chairry.
- Mrs. Steve: Pee-wee. Pee-wee. Locked the doors. Shut the windows. Hide.
- Pee-wee Herman: What is it, Mrs. Steve?
- Mrs. Steve: There's a monster on the loose.
- Pee-wee Herman: AAH!
- [runs around]
- Pee-wee Herman: A MONSTER! AAH! AAH! A MON... AAH! AAH!
- [stops]
- Pee-wee Herman: Wait a minute, I don't believe in monsters.
- Mrs. Steve: Look...
- [everyone screams]
- Mrs. Steve: Is it the monster?
- Pee-wee Herman: No, you said the secret word, Mrs. Steve.
- Mrs. Steve: I tell you, I saw a monster. It had a big, round eye and two mouths. It was horrible! I have to go warn the other people in the neighborhood.
- Knucklehead: Knock, knock.
- Pee-wee Herman: Who's there?
- Knucklehead: Ima.
- Pee-wee Herman: Ima who?
- Knucklehead: Ima gettin' outta here! There's a monster in the neighborhood!
- [hops away howling]
- Pee-wee Herman: Jambi, there's a monster in the Playhouse!
- Jambi the Genie: No kidding. I thought he was your twin brother.
- [laughs]
- Pee-wee Herman: So funny, I almost forgot to laugh.
- Roger: Hello. My name is Roger.
- Pee-wee Herman: Hi, Roger. I'm Pee-wee. Uh, this is Magic Screen, Globey, Pterri, Conky, and Chairry.
- Roger: Pleased to make your acquaintance, I'm sure. Why are you afraid of me?
- Pee-wee Herman: Because you're a monster.
- Globey: And you're different.
- Roger: I can't help the way I look.
- [everyone screams]
- Roger: [giggles] I must've said the secret word!
- Pee-wee Herman: How'd you know about that, Roger?
- Roger: Everybody in Monsterland loves your show. We used to be afraid of it until we understood it.
- Pee-wee Herman: Ha ha! I love that story.
- Roger: [giggles] You crack me up, Pee-wee.
- Pee-wee Herman: Thanks, Roger.
- Pee-wee Herman: [seeing Dixie come in] Hi, Dixie.
- Dixie: [looks around the Playhouse briefly] Announcing his highness, the King of Cartoons.
- King of Cartoons: [offscreen] Oh, no, Dixie. I'm too afraid to get out of the cab.
- Dixie: [calling out] It's okay, Your Highness. I checked out the Playhouse. The coast is clear. There's no monsters in here.
- King of Cartoons: [entering nervously] You sure there's no monster in here?
- Chairry: See, Pee-wee? The king is afraid of monsters, too.
- Pee-wee Herman: Did you see a monster?
- King of Cartoons: Oh, no, but I heard all about it from Mrs. Steve.
- Pee-wee Herman: Oh, that Mrs. Steve's got everybody scared. There's no such thing as monsters!
- Dixie: You can't be too sure. Make it quick, King. Better safe than sorry.
- King of Cartoons: Quite right, Dixie. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, and... monster, if there is any... let the cartoon... begin.
- [the cartoon "Jack Frost" plays]
