A film I will never forget

Warning: Spoilers
I came across this short film on Youtube a few months ago. I can't exactly remember what made me attracted to it or why I was watching it, but I became instantly enthralled with the story.

Cooper is your typical neurotic young adult trying to get by day to day with a lackluster life. Being a teenager myself, I found the character of Cooper to be completely relatable. Have you ever, whether in the past or present, felt that you were leading an unsatisfying life? Cooper knows he is, but due to his unstable future, he settles for less. The character of Max (Cooper's best friend), however, is a confident, outgoing, smooth talker, achieving a balance in this coming of age story.

The lighting is a little dim at times only to give off that natural feel of ambient light. However, it doesn't distract the viewer much. The dialog flows smoothly and the acting is top notch. If there is one thing to praise about this film, it's the reality that writer/director Joe Burke brought to this film. Everything about this film feels very plausible through the writing and acting. Without this believability, all hope for "Coop's Night In" would have been lost. It's that "reality" which Hollywood loses in so many of its teen comedies or dramas. If anything, Hollywood should be taking notes from Joe Burke. The greatest scene in the film, in my opinion, is the scene in the bathroom when the cast smokes pot and discusses life. The fear of old age and future judgment are common themes that can surely connect with any viewer.

Within the first few seconds of Cooper's sex fantasy, the viewer has no idea what to expect. If you hold on for the ride, by the end, you'll wish you never left that world of Cooper and Max.
