We Brits don’t get exorcism drama The Rite until the end of February but the Americanos get it at the end of this very month. Exorcism movies are definitely back! Over the Christmas break I watched two low budget efforts called Blackwater Valley Exorcism and another one called Exorcism: The Possession of Gail Bowers. Both total shit but certainly indicative of the subgenre’s resurgence in popularity. One thing is for sure, demons have a thing for the ladies.
The new poster goes for an upside down crucifix motif and individual image boxes. One thing that makes this particular religious horror flick stand out from the crowd is its Rome setting. Maybe an alternative tagline could have been. “You’ve seen Roman Holiday. Now see Satan’s Roman Holiday!” Or something like that.
