Trivialidades:
The filmmakers intentionally used the traditional Chinese phrase "Gung Fu" in the movie. This created problems for Jackie Chan, who was used to saying the Anglisized "Kung Fu." másErrores:
Errores Reales: The folklore associated with the Monkey King only has Five Finger Mountain, not Five Element Mountain. The mountain depicted in the movie is even shaped like five fingers. Hence Five Element Mountain is a mistranslation. máspreguntas frecuentes

In modern day Boston, a mystical golden staff falls into the unlikely hands of a teen boy, who just happens to be a huge fan of anything martial arts-related. He is later accompanied by an immortal drunken boxer(played by Jackie Chan) and a young woman seeking vengeance, on a dangerous quest to the Forbidden Kingdom.
The action, comedy, and drama mix well enough together, but it's mostly the dramatic scenes that feel out of place. There are many fast-paced fight scenes which are fun to watch but not as impressive as I would have expected, especially since the film stars two famous martial artists and the action scenes are directed by the man who worked on Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The cast have good enough chemistry with one another but I somehow felt that Jackie and Jet could have had more screen time, especially considering the length of the film which isn't very long(about 90 minutes). Jackie is very funny and he is still in peak physical condition, despite having broken so many bones so many times. Jet Li does well with what little he is given to do and he and Jackie are great together. Some actors that bugged me in the movie were the 'tough Boston street gang' who were not exactly convincing and pretty clichéd. The movie's biggest problem, however, is it's disappointing preference of style over substance.
As a fan of Jackie Chan's was disappointed with The Forbidden Kingdom, but it will likely be enjoyed, at least in part, by hardcore Jackie Chan fans and Jet Li fans. Hopefully, the two will star in another film together which will make up for the faults of this one. This movie didn't do Jackie much justice, in particular. Personally, I'd recommend waiting for the DVD.
