Originally, "A Little Smurf Confidence" ended after Weakling rescued Hefty after the Smurfs' dam collapsed. Later, an ending was added to the episode in which Papa Smurf explains to Weakling that his "can-do" cream is actually Smurfberry jam.
In a 1980 Smurf comic story titled "Le Schtroumpfs Olympiques" ("The Olympic Smurfs" in English), Weakling (who is the main character) also used a special cream on his nose, but unlike "A Little Smurf Confidence", which he thought will make him strong, helped him win all the Olympic-style events he participated in.
The wizard Harlequin that was mentioned (but does not physically appear) and whom Gargamel impersonates in "Hogatha's Heartthrob" was probably named for the publisher of romance novels.
In "A Little Smurf Confidence," Weakling is the second-to-last of the pre-1981 Smurfs to debut in the cartoon series, debuting a few episodes before Sickly, who is the last. He made his first appearance in the 1980 comic story "Le Schtroumpfs Olympiques" ("The Olympic Smurfs" in English), which made him the last Smurf to be introduced before the cartoon series debuted in the fall of 1981.
