Curiosity Endangers the Squirrel, but Defends the Cat
WeatherViolet11 August 2010
In the first episode after the adventurous "Man with the Yellow Hat" rescues that little monkey "Curious George" from Africa and relocates him into his residence in the city (somewhere?), Curious George begins life's adventures anew, in the civilized world, of sorts....

(Note: because Curious George has such an irritating screech, you may wish to lower the volume as closely to "mute" as possible to enjoy this series.)

First, at the residence of the Man with the Yellow Hat, Curious George awakens in his comfortable bedroom one windy morning to notice through his window birds of blue and red soaring merrily through the breeze, causing George to aspire to new heights.

George gathers his collection of light objects in his shamrock-adorned wooden container, to present before the Man with the Yellow Hat, already busy downstairs at his easel painting still-life, or perhaps wildlife, by morning light.

But when Curious George reaches to attempt to retrieve the Yellow Hat from a knob on his way through the door, the Man reminds him that the Yellow Hat remains off limits as a toy for Curious George, and so he exits into the yard with his collection of toys.

Outside, Joe the Neighbor Boy flies his yellow kite, causing Curious George to request the use of it, but Joe the Neighbor Boy maintains that the wind may carry Curious George away on the string of the kite.

Then Curious George assists Joe the Neighbor Boy with attempting to retrieve the kite once its spool of string empties, and the yellow kite heads toward Jumpy Squirrel's tree, causing a run-in between Curious George and Jumpy the Squirrel, who becomes entangled with Curious George and the yellow kite as they soar with the doves.

But will Joe the Neighbor Boy be able to alert the Man with the Yellow Hat in time to save the day, as poor little Jumpy the Squirrel clutches on for dear life as "Curious George Flies a Kite?"

Next, Curious George accompanies the Man with the Yellow Hat on a hike through the city toward its Museum of Natural History one Sunday afternoon, when they pass before an Italian restaurant, at which Curious George notices a plate of sweet Calzone in its window.

As Curious George and the Man with the Yellow Hat detour into the Italian restaurant, they cross before a miffed Gnocchi the Cat, who has been banned from the restaurant under allegations of scratching its seating booths, leaving double claw marks. Gnocchi the Cat then scratches the door, leaving triple claw marks.

Inside, Chef Pisghetti explains that he won't be baking any more sweet Calzones today because he feels too depressed over what Gnocchi the Cat has done to his seats.

But Curious George really has his mind set on a sweet Calzone, and so he rises to the defense of poor little Gnocchi the Cat before Chef Pisghetti and Netti, and their Waitress and customers, in order to try to prove that s/he couldn't have done the mischievous deed, and to figure whodunit "From Scratch."
