Sheng xia guang nian (Eternal Summer) is a very nice movie and has become one of my favorite movies. The story is touching and moved me a lot while watching it and even after I have seen this movie I just cannot forget the story and the characters- it really reminds me of my own life so much and what is really important in life- the dreams, the love and the friendship. The movie is from Taiwan and the young director is so talented, he did a great job with this slow-moving movie and the beautiful story. I can hardly describe how good this movie makes me feel and how much it touches me.

The story is about two friends, Jonathan and Shane, who grew up together and who met each other for the first time in primary school. Jonathan is a real good student while Shane is always a bit naughty. One day when no-one else wants Shane to be in their school team Jonathan lets him join while doing a school project and so they become best friends through primary and secondary school. The two develop a real close friendship and as time goes by Jonathan is falling in love with Shane but does not tell him his feelings. The two are inseparable and spend most of their time together, even when a girl, Carrie joins their school. She falls in love with Jonathan first but Jonathan does not share the same feelings for her, so she wants to fall in love with Shane- however she does not want to disturb the friendship of the boys. So, the story continues until finally Jonathan will let Shane know his true feelings about him.

The two main actors, Bryant Chang who is starring as Jonathan and Hsiao Chuan Chang as Shane give a very great performance that I have hardly seen in any other movie. Their facial expressions are strong and they play their characters very credible. Both of them are so young, talented actors and they did their acting with great dedication. Leste Chen is a young director who directed this slow-moving movie in the best possible way that I could imagine. The plot of the movie is great and the scenes are so nicely, detailed filmed. I would really like to see more movies of him, especially as he is still very young. The music in this movie is also very good, quiet and so recommendable.

I can recommend this movie to anyone who believes in friendship and love and true values. The only thing that I would have found better is that if they would have made the story just about Jonathan and Shane without the girl. But that does not really matter as the move is so great.
