Mrs. Muir (Hope Lange) is in search of a story to write and reads in the newspaper where renowned spiritualist Madame Olivia Tibaldi (Shirley Booth, "Hazel", "The Year Without a Santa Claus") is conducting a lecture tour throughout New England. She agrees to an interview and comes to Gull Cottage. Captain Gregg (Edward Mulhare) tries to spook her, but she is excited and wishes to hold a seance, much against the Captain's wishes. Meanwhile, Claymore (Charles Nelson Reilly) has a substantial offer for Gull Cottage but knows he can't sell it because of the Captain. He runs into Madame Tibaldi and is excited to come see that "the ghost of Captain Gregg will be gone forever". The Captain will have a say in that.
