- In an attempt to understand the supernatural events he'd recently witnessed in Vietnam, the reporter, Akihiro Okamura, contacts Kai and Saya's friends Mao and Kaori to learn more about Saya and her current whereabouts.
- Carl is still missing, so Solomon and his brother James Ironside discuss what is to be done to repair the damage that Carl has done. James has received word that they have confirmed Haji's presence and that they will be receiving more details shortly. Solomon tells James that he will leave the Diva situation to him to figure out while Solomon ponders who to name as Carl's successor.
Okamura can't get out of his mind what he saw in the cellar of the Cinq Flèches Lycee the night of the Gala Ball. Most of the photographs he snapped of Saya fighting Carl came out under-exposed. In the two that remained, however, he can easily see that Saya is the same person as the girl fighting monsters in some photos that his father, also a photographer, took 30 years ago in Vietnam. Okamura decides to do some snooping. First, he takes his bottle of Chateau Duel to Professor Sukekawa at Naha University and asks him to analyze its contents. Sukekawa recalls Okamura telling him about the military's involvement in the cleanup after the bombing of the Yanbaru Nature Conservancy and tells him about an incident at the hospital where George Miyagusuku was taken from his bed by the military. Okamura wonders if the two incidents could be related.
Okamura talks with the nurse at the hospital and learns that George and his entire family -- Riku, Kai, and Saya -- have disappeared. He goes to Pub OMoro but finds that it's been closed and placed up for sale. He pays a visit to his friend Sorimachi, who works for a rival newspaper, and discovers that Sorimachi covered the incident at the Omoro where Forrest went crazy and attacked George. He walks past Koza High School where the murders took place several months ago and overhears Mao and Kaori talking about Saya's whereabouts. That name "Saya" keeps coming up, he tells himself, but he can't fit all the pieces of the puzzle together.
Okamura shows Mao and Kaori the photos he took of Saya at the Lycee and those of Saya in Vietnam 30 years ago. Mao and Kaori confirm that they both look like Saya. Mao thinks it must have been Saya's mother 30 years ago. Suddenly, he gets a call from Sukekawa telling him that his office was just broken into but the only thing taken was Okamura's bottle of Chateau Duel. Exasperated, Okamura pines about how much he'd like to talk with Saya. Mao tells him that she heard Saya was back in Okinawa as of yesterday, but Kaori is probably right when she said earlier that Saya has left again. With Saya gone, the only lead that Okamura has left is the fact that the wine was produced in the Pauillac region of France, near Bordeaux. Unfortunately, his boss won't pay for a trip to France and Okamura spent his last dime on the trip to Vietnam. Mao, the daughter of a rich Japanese mafioso, offers to foot the bill on one condition...that she can tag along.
