- Kai and Riku also arrive in Vietnam. Riku befriends a cute local village girl, who was left crippled by the mines placed during the Vietnam War that the locals dig for to sell as scrap metal.
- Lewis has uncovered information about five girls gone missing at Cinq Flèches and one other girl hemorrhaging to death. Looking at photos of the six girls, it is readily apparent that they all looked like Saya. Julia fears that Saya might be in danger and that they should do something, but David maintains that the spy mission must be left to Saya while they continue to trace information about Delta-67.
In his search for Saya, Riku has made a friend...a Vietnamese girl with one leg. Mui's right leg was blown off when she came upon a "dud," a bomb that was dropped during the Vietnam war but didn't explode. Mui invites Riku and Kai to stay at the orphanage where she lives, her medicine and keep provided by a sponsor who is soon going to send her to France so she can study piano. When Mui hears that her father has been badly injured, she decides to return to her village and asks Riku to buy her a metal detector in order to help her family. When Riku learns that Mui's family will probably use the metal detector to find more duds and land mines to sell as scrap metal, he regrets his decision to help her. Kai and Riku drive to Mui's village, but they don't have the heart to take the metal detector from her.
That night, while everyone is sleeping, Mui and Riku hear something. They both go out on the porch to investigate, and they and Kai are captured and taken away by Van Arjano's goons.
