I saw this when I was a kid and was profoundly moved. It was the life of Christ narrated from the King James Bible against the background of magnificent historical paintings depicting each major event. The narrator was Alexander Scourby who is unparalleled in Bible reading, and beneath it all was a magnificent background score by Robert Russell Bennett.
I have wished to own a DVD copy of this, but cannot find such a thing. The only negative thing I can remotely suggest is that it was a singleton which stopped with Jesus' early years. This could have had subsequent sequels following Christ's ministry. There has never been anything quite like this.
There was an LP record of the soundtrack released decades ago with a few of the paintings on a page insert. But nothing can take the place of the film itself. This was documentary television at its finest.
