Being a military person I always have a soft spot for movies like this. Forty years after it came out An Officer And A Gentleman stands as a classic that has withstood the test of time and no movie of today can compare to it. I even saw where they made it into a Broadway musical! This is a very enjoyable documentary that almost makes you feel like you are visiting old friends. There is so much trivia about this film such as Richard Gere and Debra Winger didn't like each other in real life and R. Lee Ermey was one of the technical advisors (he was the only drill instructor in movie history meaner then the one that Gosset played).
