Yes, go figure. You can say this is a Tarantino ripoff and lacks some structure and has a lot of style despite substance. But, for a Portuguese film, everyone has to admit it was put a lot of effort in this film to make it possible to be done.
Because, in Europe cinema isn't done this way. Artistic values and theatrical dialog against the visual style and fast cinematography of American cinema.
Leonel Vieira was on fire directing this one. Beautiful static shots and interesting dolly moves. Photography was also very Tarantin-esquire, a yellow-toned and 70s classic art-films theme.
Ivo Canelas prove to me that he is one of the most underrated and less known Portuguese actors. Enrique Arce was awesome in the beginning but lost the lead role in the ending.
And like all things do: last but not least, I believe the other reviewer of the site has it all right.
This is a tribute to Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez themes.
