Dry riverbeds, ancient oceans, a towering mountain of ice, the largest known volcano in the solar system... and a gigantic, humanoid face sculptured on the plain of Cydonia. All of this and more now appears to have been discovered and photographed on the surface of Mars. And in the same region a huge five-sided pyramid hints at intelligent life and a direct connection to the pyramids of Egypt. The Mars Global Surveyor, the first genuinely successful orbiter since the Viking probes of the 70s, is now sending back to earth, tens of thousands of high resolution images. Will these high resolution photographs prove that there was, at some time in the distant past, intelligent life on Mars? Is there water even today beneath the surface.and a Martian space ship still perched on a mile high cliff? Will the year 2002 turn out to be the Mars Odyssey year of discovery?
