Well, that got high fast

Here we are, at the 200th episode of the show! This episode features Twilight and her brother Shining Armor competing for a crown that they've been competing for since they were little. They were rewarded the crown from competitions they had before. This time, they will simply try to get the crown itself in the guarded castle. We get great animation shifts as we go along. I admit that I kind of wish there were more characters and main villains for the 200th episode.

It's still incredible! The best part might be the ending. The twist is so good and foreshadowed so perfectly you have to see it for yourself! I love the facial expressions as always. Rarity really gets to shine here. Here's to a great final season! ****

A sparkling milestone
TheLittleSongbird13 January 2022
"Sparkle's Seven" is most notable for being another milestone episode, one of two for 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic'. The first milestone episode was Season 5's brilliant "Slice of Life", the 100th episode of 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic'. Season 9's "Sparkle's Seven" is the 200th. Apparently this was an episode dreamt up by the voice actors, which was unique up to this point of the show. Really loved the idea and it sounded like one that would really move the season forward.

Which "Sparkle's Seven" does. It is not only absolutely sparkling as a milestone episode, if not quite as amazing as "Slice of Life", it also is a fantastic 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic' episode in its own right. Even better than the Season 9 two part opener "The Beginning of the End" and a vast improvement over the disappointing previous episode "Uprooted", for me it is also a Season 9 high point and one of the few episodes of the season to be properly outstanding.

The animation is vibrantly coloured and the backgrounds have variety and polish. The standout when it came to the animation was the facial expressions, which were deliciously wacky and wildly imaginative. The music synchronises very well with what goes on, nothing sounded misplaced, it was nicely varied tonally and it never sounded too heavy, chirpy or dull.

Also thought that "Sparkle's Seven's" writing is some of the best of Season 9. Some of it is delightfully off the wall like Applejack's Apple Chord story, while also having some subtle nods and a lot of genuinely funny humour. As far as the humour goes, this is easily one of the season's funniest. The story is a lot of fun throughout and worth investing in, with the insightful development to Spike and agreed the mind-blower of a twist being high points.

Really liked that all the characters shone in some way or other, Twilight and Shining Armor are written nicely. Shining Armor is the most interesting he's been in a long time. Could find no fault with the voice acting.

Brilliant episode all in all. 10/10.

Warning: Spoilers
After the episode 100 success in 2015 episode 200 came in 2019, and as episode 100 was for Bronies this episode was for the writers without them we would not have had this classic show. Back in 2019 this show was ending, and this season was a fitting goodbye. In this episode Twilight Sparkle and her friends is out on a scavenger hunt hosted by her family in the Cantelot castle. You have all seen heist movie and heist TV spoofs, and this is one of the better as Fluttershy´s brother omes back as a clumsy guard. If you want a break from the serious Netflix shows go watch this episode as it has thrills, fun and spoofs.
