After watching a terrible movie called Edge of tomorrow, for some reason, I decided to watch the first Nickelodeon show called Ren and Stimpy back in May 2021. This is the first episode that popped in my recommendations, I watched it in russian, and the second segment (I'll only review this one) has 3 titles, the official english one (An Abe divided), and two russian titles (Dream job and Treasure seekers). My favorite title is the first one. Anyways, onto the episode itself. This was my first introduction to the show, and it was definitely a funny experience. So Ren the Chihuahua and Stimpy the cat decided to get some money and both get hired as the guards of the Abraham Lincoln president statue. A day later, they hear rumours that there might be a treasure inside his head. So of course Ren's curious and wants to find a way to obtain it. Later on, Stimpy accidentally broke the head of the statue and they actually found something unexpected. I won't exactly tell you what is it, but I'll give you a little hint. Stimpy was right after all and even though he isn't the brightest bulb in the pack, he somehow knew what was inside. Soon afterwards, both try to fix the head, but sadly failed.
It honesty reminded me of the Timon and Pumba show, and I used to watch it a lot as a little girl. I loved it back then! So maybe that's the reason why I thought that Ren and Stimpy was funny. Though it does contain some darker humour, like the fact that the cat character thought that the president is Santa Clause and then the dog would tell that this is a memorial, and Stimpy thinks that Santa's dead. That's something unique for a Nickelodeon show, and they were just starting their own animation buisness.
Surprisingly, an 11 minute cartoon gave me more character development, entertainment and interesting plot twists than a 2 hour movie about an alien war with Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. I can even say that Ren and Stimpy are the best Edge of tomorrow characters! (Don't take this seriously) I really recommend you to check out this episode, especially after you watched a bad movie and you just feel let down. Just a little warning, there's some gross and dark humour, so it's not for everyone, and not for young children (I would suggest parental guidance for ages 5-12, and for ages 13+, it's fine to watch it on your own.) As for me, I laughed so hard at this that it made my day better.
