The single of "Tired Of Being Alone" by Texas reached No.19 in the UK charts, their highest chart position since 1989's "I Don't Want A Lover". However, their real comeback didn't happen until 1997, where they scored four top ten hits in a row.
There are several signs throughout this edition that Terry is tired and jaded. He ends the show by explaining that he's been "locked out" for the following Monday, replaced with a screening of a Tarzan film, and wouldn't be back until the following Wednesday. (The Friday night edition already shelved to make space for that year's Comic Relief.)
Ironically, the BBC1 screening of Tarzan in Manhattan (1989) was watched by 6 million people, the exact same amount as the average for the Wednesday/Friday editions of Wogan that week.
