An inside look at the HUMAN side of a guerrilla force
tamilrally1 August 2017
Disclaimer: I don't believe in suicide but this documentary enabled me to understand the 'inside' of this guerrilla force. I'd say the award-winning director Beate Arnested is brave to have gone inside to interview the rebels.

This was shown on US PBS station, United Nations Film Festival, Frontline of London etc. I heard that the PREVIOUS Sri lankan govt. had a group of IT people to do false propaganda on Wikipedia, Youtube etc.

Here's excerpt from UN Assn. Film festival:

This fascinating documentary is an exceedingly rare, inside look at an organization that most of the world has blacklisted as a terrorist group. Made by the first foreign film crew to be given access to the Tamil Tigers (LTTE) of Sri Lanka, the film offers insights into the recently re-ignited conflict in Sri Lanka. Twenty- four-year-olds Dharsika and Puhalchudar have been living and fighting side-by-side for seven years as part of LTTE's elite force, the Black Tigers. Their story is told through cinema verité footage, newsreel footage, and interviews with the women and Dharsika's mother. The women describe heartbreaking traumas they both experienced at the hands of the Sri Lankan army, which led them to join the guerrilla forces. ---------

A rather unique documentary
alexwdoss3 August 2017
For decades the international community has been getting the Sri Lankan government side of the story with little or no detail on the origins of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, otherwise known as the Tamil Tigers. This film is one of the first documentaries to take an in depth look into the guerrilla turned conventional military forces of the Tamil homeland Northeast of the island known as Tamil Eelam. One of the most taboo topics in combat talked about are suicide bombers and why one would become one. The film investigates the lives of two female combatants and their reasons for joining the Black Tiger brigade of the Tamil armed movement. This is a must see film for one who wants to get a complete picture of the ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka.
