The show is good, but the sound quality is very poor. The background music overpowers the narrator and speakers; it's more of distraction than adding to it. The narrator puts you to sleep by reading the narrative with a flat tone rather than speaking naturally with a more dramatic voice.

Fire The The Narrator!!!
firballblaze-696896 August 2019
The Narrator sounds like a pervert with the way she talks in a stupid tone.
The show would be a whole lot better without her annoying voice. I would rank it up 3 stars if they got rid of her. The quality is just awful and the music is also ridiculous.
This is what these killers want sometimes
firballblaze-6968924 July 2019
Sometimes it's about publicity with these monsters. If they're not going to put them to death like theses killers deserve, they need to stop giving them notoriety and forget them. That would be the worse punishment for them.
Innovative in depth look into a killer's mind
katie-5575130 July 2019
Maria Awes takes a compassionate approach to understanding the mind of a self-professed serial killer and his impacts on his victims and the loved ones of those he killed. The style is similar to true crime podcasts, but delivered in a less-"surgical" style than most podcasts. You can really tell that Ms. Awes cares about these people and wants to help them find justice. It's a must watch.
Could easily have been a 1 hour show
urmeltinmahead14 August 2019
If you have not watched this then prepare yourself to be presented with the same information retold and the same shots used throughout the entire 3 episodes. Also the dramatic narration of mundane facts does not add anything it merely gets very annoying very quickly. This could easily have been done in a 1 hour show but was padded out to over 3 hours.
Intriguing story but poor quality production

I followed this when it hit the news and the story is intriguing but I don't like how the journalist makes it all about her, it's just annoying. She don't need to be in it just tell us the details of the story instead. Production quality is poor but story wise definitely watchable.
Dr Phil's coverage and interview with Kala was heartbreaking and so much better which I can recommend if you haven't seen.

So unbelieveably boring and repetitive

Padded out to the point of being boring.

The opening sequence gives the impression that Maria and her team are going to investigate the possibility of more crimes committed by Todd, then for the next four hours all you get is recaps of the known crimes. This whole three part series, each part being one hour and twenty five minutes could have been condensed into a single 60 minute episode.
The Todd Kohlhepp Show

Irresponsable

Warning: Spoilers
I'm astonished. How are professionals so cavalier about ethics? The filmmakers were used by this repugnant subject of the series. He put his insane narratives into our minds and out to the world...making the victims and all watching victimized! Unbelievable. Do not watch.
The Facebook messages with Kaila were just despicable. Horrible you let him question his victims consent and then both side it?!? Wtf?!
The police obviously were the worst but I wasn't on the side of the narrator and that's a huge problem as a viewer. God bless all of the victims and there were touching moments with them.
Shame on the producers.

Total Snoozefest

I have no clue why these other "reviewers" gave this three-part series such high reviews. Did we watch the same show because the one I watched was soooo boring, repetitive, uninteresting and annoyingly narrated. I stopped watching and removed it from my list on 4 different occasions. Eventually I did muster the mental fortitude needed to power through but good grief, Charlie Brown, what an utter snoozefest it was! Only watch this series if you plan on filming and directing a documentary yourself and seek tips on how NOT to make one suck so much.
If you plan on watching it anyway just be prepared going in for almost 4 hours of your life wasted that you can't get back.

Good series...until they start blaming police
tmdarby23 December 2021
Well done and well filmed documentary. I've started noticing more and more documentaries trying to blame for police. I get tired of that. There is one person here that is to blame Todd Kohlhepp. Cops make mistakes, no doubt, but trying to grill them like you did is wrong.
