Hope this continues into part 2
bryand2324-697-23964916 December 2019
Still not on the tier of Season 3's best episodes but this was about the best one so far in season 4. This actually had me laughing out loud in parts and I loved the time paradox story line. Classic Rick and Morty episode.

Good! But something still feels off
SnakesVengence16 December 2019
Don't get me wrong, this is a really solid episode, but I can't help but feel something is still a little off. The show just feels... different to watch. Which is probably due to the new writers. Still, I feel like the certain quirks and drama that made Rick and Morty stand out from other shows is now missing/watered down. I don't get that same feeling of impact/deeper message that I used to get from the show. The show's witty writing, dark humor and charming personality is still there, but the weird character antics, deep emotional drama and shocking nature of the show, I feel although not gone completely, has been toned down. The moments it does try to be dark/impactful, it just doesn't hit the same way and feels like it's being forced/rushed. The character's personalities have also been altered/toned down. Like Rick and Morty's toxic sides feel muted this season such as Rick's cynical, sociopathic, narcissistic behavior and Morty's insecure, passive behavior. Which is a bit of a shame, because their toxic sides are what made them a great duo to watch. I know shows tend to evolve over time, but it's core elements need to evolve too, not slowly fade away. It's just little nitpicks like this that start to slowly, gradually make a show decline in quality and become a shadow of its former self. The show is still going strong right now, but I unfortunately have to say, it's starting to decline a bit. This was one of the more stronger episodes of this season, just slightly behind the first but just not quite there on the same level with the good episodes from the older seasons.

Back on Track!
onision-9051116 December 2019
Not gonna lie, the last episode in my opinion was the worst one of the series. A lot of the jokes fell flat and the whole "horny dragon" storyline was kind of lost on me. But this episode without a doubt made up for it! This is a classic Rick and Morty episode, and I felt myself laughing a lot during it, which is something that hasn't happened often this season. Overall it's a 9.1/10, and definitely a step in the right direction for the season!

Snakes In Space!
ericstevenson17 December 2019
Here's a rather odd episode, but also one of the best. It's easily the best of this season and it's not hard to see why. The episode starts off with Rick and Morty in space and Morty getting bitten by a space snake. Seriously, there's a snake dressed like an astronaut floating around. They go to the snake planet and find a cure, but Morty sends a snake from Earth to replace it. They're then attacked by snakes in a Terminator parody.

There's seriously a two minute sequence of nothing but snakes hissing as the only dialogue. This is also a Christmas episode, although it's not that relevant. The visual gags are awesome in this, especially how the time traveling snakes keep appearing one after another. Lincoln and Hitler are in "Rick And Morty" again? Going back to 1985 must have been a "Back To The Future" reference. This episode was hilarious and creative. ****

Now we are talking!
masoud_ahmadi16 December 2019
After 4 episodes which did not feel exactly like R&M, finally an excellent classic R&M episode. However it is also a little far from the best episodes (The Rickshank Rickdemption, Pickle Rick, The Ricklantis Mixup, Morty's Mind Blowers, Total Rickall, The Ricks Must Be Crazy, The Wedding Squanchers, Close Rick-counters of the Rick Kind, Rick Potion #9 and so on), but definitely far R&Mortier than the last 4 episodes. We expect suchlike episodes in the upcoming episodes (or season).

Classic Rick and Morty
markq-7565416 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode felt like a season 1 or 2 episode. The whole snake story was hilarious, the 80s snake. The time travel to save snake Lincoln and the whole fight at Hitler Snake House has me dying. The end part was also funny with those guys who stop time travelers started beating up a caveman snake. Just an over the top funny episode.

Surprising return to form for Rick and Morty antics
mechashark16 December 2019
A return to the classic R+M feel with a parody of 80s time travel flicks. It leaves out the complicated nature of paradoxes, etc., which I think they outdid themselves with in the season 2 premier; I forgive them for being lazy this time, though it does lose coherency in the final act. It's so over the top this time (even for R+M standards) that it really doesn't matter. There are a lot of funny moments throughout the whole episode, whereas previous episodes of S4 have a gag or two that are amusing.

Only item still missing is anything 'deep'. While S1 and S2 were just as over the top with zany stories, there was still a lot of character drama. Seems like they believe they've run out of stuff to do there, or are avoiding it, as it's been mostly absent this season (and it's half-way over). That's what separated R+M from the other cartoon schlock, even outside of the exaggerated, shroom-like sci-fi themes.

We'll see if it continues. I railed on episode 4 pretty hard, so had to do my due diligence in voicing the things that went well.

Dead on Siri
chrisboringlife21 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Jerry: "Siri, set an 9 hour and 50 minute timer". Siri: "Playing the Beatles" It is the small jokes that are so sharp and dead on, that can set the tone for an entire episode.

Reminds me of all the times I was desperately trying to get a map coord, or try to play a song, or try to ask anything really.. Apple truly fell from high, and still falling into an endless abyss of their own defecation

They finally broke the time travel rule!
backslapjones17 December 2019
Looks like the writers finally opened that box on the garage shelf labeled "time travel stuff", which was intended to be their subtle message to the viewers that they would avoid that topic in their episodes to avoid confusion/cliché. I'm glad they decided to take the leap in this episode, though, because I think they really pulled off a clever and original time travel plot. The episode had some really hilarious parts and the B story was a lot of fun to watch.

Snake Terminator

While in space, Rick and Morty have to kill a snake astronaut and Morty feels bad about it, so he buys a replacement snake and sends it back to Snake Planet, altering the course of Snake Evolution forever

Thank god
benowen-9120716 December 2019
I can't be the only one facing fatigue of this show, especially after the last 2 episodes. But finally there is another good episode, really good for that matter I think what makes this episode better than the previous 2 is the plot and how consistent it is. It doesn't feel messy, but it flows from point to point naturally. The parody was also really good. It actually uses T2 to form the backbone of an interesting plot, and I love the satire at the beginning on the idea of snake body snatchers Great episode, finally one that I can call a fun rick and Morty adventure (the first 2 of the season were good but the duo had separate plot lines). Good way to end this half of the season.

Better premise, but uninspired dialogue
jamesGate16 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The jokes are forced, repetitive and terribly timed. The are too many self indulgent references shoehorned for youtube detectives that are not funny or deep. This episode at least had an original premise that didn't revolve around a bad joke but it still feels uninspired. It reminded of old episodes with conceptually fresh funky adventures without jumping the shark completely. However, the pace was off once again and the dialogues didn't flow.

Character wise, Morty reverts to a naive boy after being an apathetic nihilist for over a season. Rick is not vulnerable and his meta jokes are terrible. Summer's stereotypical teen jokes land flat and are all she is now. And Jerry being a mess is beating a dead horse because the comedic timing is gone.

I hope the creators bring back old writers and lay off on the alcohol/other substances. Also I wish they stopped watching videos dissecting their work. It is somewhat ruining the legacy of a once very unique show.

I really enjoyed this one!! Got a great finish for part 1 from season 4... they should be getting more into the time travel and multiverse stuff! because that is what makes Rick and morty episodes hilarious and funny. I´m giving this one a 10 'cause made me laugh a lot most of all by that 80's snake part haha so funny!

If they keep it up like this, Rick and Morty are back
spahs201916 December 2019
By far the best episode of the season imo, this could be a Season 3 episode. It has everything I missed the first four episodes, humor, great overall idea, they even included Jerry (he was totally absent for the first four episodes). Rick and Morty will be my favorite show again if they continue like this.

Ouroboros and Hilarity
ericks-8689217 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
First, let me say that this episode was great. From the pure randomness of a snake in a space suit biting Morty on the ankle, to the Arrival and Terminator parodies full of snakes hissing at each other in ways that we completely understood I often couldn't stop laughing. The Jerry story was less good, but an interesting story about pride leading you to cause more harm to yourself and others.

This season has had a few fun episodes where the writers criticize a genre, and here they criticize time travel stories, among others. Dan Harmon has always said he hates time travel because it loops on itself and makes all stories meaningless because people can just go back in time later. I thought that would mean that Time Travel would not exist in the Rick and Morty universe, but I was wrong. In this episode we learn that Rick is fully capable of time travel, but that he chooses not to do it because of the damage it can cause. In this case, the chaos it causes leads to an entire species wiping itself from existence, symbolized by the ouroboros (famous symbol of a snake eating its own tail).

Also, we learn a bit more about the testicle monsters, and the role they seem to play in maintaining order across time as space. Between them and Evil Morty ruling the Citadel of Ricks, along with Tammy and the remains of the Intergalactic government, and the people in Ricks car battery, the one Vindicator still alive, and even Unity, Rick and Morty have a ton of interesting characters available to them, and I'm excited to see them interact with each other down the road.

Best one of the season

I suppose I've been somewhat disappointed with season 4 but saying that even the worst episodes of Rick and Morty are still bloody good. This episode was one of my favourites not just of this season but the entire series

Snakinator
RickSC13724 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I am not sure why the reference to Battlestar Galactica is in the name as the main plot line clearly uses ideas, images, and fonts that are from the Terminator series. They reference the "war between snake and machine" and refer to it as "Snakenet" where Terminator refers to it as "Skynet" Overall I think it was the best episode so far this season which is saying much looking back at the other 4 episodes but I hope this is the future for upcoming episodes.

Hissssssstory boyssssssssss
southdavid8 January 2020
After last week's episode was a bit of a misfire, for me anyway, the show returns to form with a wonderfully clever and demented story involving snakes, time travel and Jerry being an idiot.

Having been bitten by a Space Snake, Morty is surprised to discover that there is a planet to snakes that has developed enough to hit outer space. Worried that he's killed Snake Neil Armstrong, Morty buys a snake, crams him in the spacesuit and returns him to the planet. Realising that this snake is not the same one that went away, snake scientists realise that there is a bigger universe out there and take their war off planet and on to Earth.

This was a clever, well written episode. An excellent Sci Fi inspired plot that escalates wonderfully into a parody of Terminator, amongst others. Again, the Jerry side story seems a bit light but when the main narrative thrust is this strong that feels like a minor quibble. (On a side note, the rest of the family seem of have been rather ignored so far this season).

Great stuff.

Whats with the voice acting?
garabedian12317 December 2019
Ive pinpointed out what exactly makes this season different from other seasons. Rick has ZERO emotion. Rick used to have at least some emotions. But now he is just cruel and cold to Morty as often as possible...Almost killing him about once a minute. And Morty is pretty cruel to Rick now too...But what tops all of that? The voice acting. Does it seem more (reading directly from the script) like to you? The voices have lost their emotion and their energy. The acting in season 4 has been not up to par.

A good end to the 1st half
danartsofficial20 December 2019
The creators of rick and morty said that they'd never do time travel unless it was a good episode, and I loved it. It was a funny episode and made me laugh out loud along with it's classic rick and morty feel. The only thing that seems off with me this season is the fact that rick no longer burps, it just feels weird and makes this whole season off skew from the rest. I hope the next half of the season improves but this was definitely the better episode of the first half and in the top 10 of my favourite episodes.

Better but still not what it used to be
mikaelellis-5366522 December 2019
This one was better than the average for this season but its still subpar to what the show used to be. One thing I liked about this episode was the non dialogue snake hissing montage because the lack of dialogue actually allowed me to breathe and enjoy the story for a while, which reminded me how tiring dialogues and character voices have become lately. The lack of good writing really shows this season.

Season four had lost its magic.
jimmy_booth19 December 2019
Its difficult to pinpoint the exact reasons but the show just feels lacking in a few areas. The pacing of the show feels rushed and the character dialogue lacks depth and emotion. The Jerry side story once again felt like a filler and didnt add much to his character or the story.

This series feels like a show written by someone trying to write a rick and morty show having only seen the a couple of wacky episodes.
