There is a great cast in this series. You should not go wrong when you have the likes of Edward Asner, David Paymer and Peter Stormare.
Briarpatch just does not know what to do with these actors.
I even wonder if the plot is kept Southern Gothic murky because there is not enough story in it.
Maybe Allegra's sister was murdered because she uncovered a children smuggling plot down by the border. At least that was suitably sinister of a girl being abandoned. Then taken care of by someone pretending to be her friend by giving her a teddy.
Allegra doing her hot headed investigations was far less interesting. Well at least she meets weird characters such as the high school kid with a tiger teddy. Just like the one given to the Mexican girl.
