Included as a bonus feature in the Collector's Edition DVD release of Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles (2006).
Project was scrapped after poor reception to the CG departure from the original anime look.
At the time of development, Harmony Gold could use the "Robotech" name, but contractually wasn't allowed to produce an animated series that could be perceived as a sequel to any of the three original anime series that made up the "Robotech" series in 1985. This was the main reason for using CG animation instead of traditional hand-drawn, and many of the plot elements from Carl Macek's original series bible contained plot elements from the unproduced "Robotech II: The Sentinels."
The original version shown at conventions in 2000 featured a montage of footage set to the song "Davidian" by the band Machine Head. This was subsequently edited out of the video file available on the official Robotech website, as well as the DVD release.
