Here's a new project announcements that just gets better and better as it goes on: Laura Dern and Margaret Qualley are set to star in an A24-produced Netflix limited series adaptation of Daisy Jones & The Six author Taylor Jenkins Reid's Forever, Interrupted, with Yellowjackets co-producer/writer Julia Bicknell attached as writer-showrunner. That's quite the team-up.
As reported by Deadline, the series will be a tender tale of love and loss told across dual timelines. Forever, Interrupted centres around Elsie (Qualley), whose whirlwind romance with lover Ben is cut cruelly short when, just nine days after having gotten married and found their happily ever after, Ben unexpectedly dies. In the aftermath of her husband's passing, Elsie finds herself coming face-to-face with her mother-in-law Susan (Dern), who doesn't even know she exists. As the narrative unfolds, recollecting Elsie and Ben's meeting in the past and Elsie and Susan's frosty-yet-soon-thawing relationship in the present,...

Prolific author Anthony Horowitz has scripted mystery drama Nine Bodies In A Mexican Morgue, here are the details.
Anthony Horowitz is perhaps best known for creating the Alex Rider franchise, which so far comprises fourteen novels, seven short stories, a critically maligned 2006 film and a popular television drama on Amazon Prime, the third and final series of which aired last month. He has also written many standalone novels and the terrific Horowitz Horror books of horror stories for older children.
However, he is just as prolific writing for the screen, creating the brilliant time travel drama Crime Traveller, which starred Michael French and Red Dwarf star Chloe Annett, ITV drama Foyle’s War and the television adaptation of his novel Magpie Murders.
His latest series is Nine Bodies In A Mexican Morgue, which has been acquired by the BBC. The synopsis reads as follows:

When it debuted in 2006, Showtime's "Dexter" was a pay cable exclusive. The darkly comic show about a Florida blood spatter analyst who doubled as a serial killer was part of Showtime's push towards HBO-level original programming, a wave of great (or at least initially great) content that also included Jenji Kohen's suburban drug dealer dramedy "Weeds," the smutty historical drama "The Tudors," and controversial lesbian soap "The L Word."
Fast forward nearly two decades, and Showtime looks a lot different. The streamer is now bundled in with Paramount+, and has been awkwardly retitled Paramount+ with Showtime. The last great Showtime hit bearing the premium channel's original name was "Yellowjackets," the great cannibal high schooler series that will be back for its third season. Showtime may have gone through tons of changes in recent years, but if you're just now getting on board with "Dexter," there's no better time: the show...

This article contains spoilers for Outer Range season 2.
Many shows in TV history have lived and died by their mysterious nature. Ongoing storylines in classics such as The X-Files, Lost, and Fringe had fans theorizing about main characters’ fates, the creative team’s intentions, or the deeper meaning of it all. Recently, shows such as From, Severance, and Yellowjackets have the same kind of devout following, and the same overarching enigmas that keep audiences coming back for answers.
When looking back at Outer Range’s first season, it’s easy to understand why the show was picked up for a second, and why the show had to come back – to unravel some of those riddles that season one left behind. While the sophomore season might have created more questions than answers, at least some of the puzzles have been solved. But don’t worry, if you’re still feeling out of the loop,...

Yellowjackets knows viewers are literally starving for season three.
So on Tuesday, the hit Showtime series played on its cannibalistic (er, survivalist) series theme by sharing a coy announcement that production has begun on the forthcoming third season.

The premiere of season three is written by the showrunning trio of co-creators Bart Nickerson and Ashley Lyle with Jonathan Lisco. Nickerson, making his directorial debut, helms the episode. Lisco will also be making his debut behind the camera when he directs episode 303.
Other shots in the set indicate a return to the wilderness, which is where the past timeline in the dual timeline series will continue to play out. Season three picks up after the shocking cliffhanger ending that saw the survivors...

Yellowjackets fans will be eating good soon as season 3 will be on its way to your screens with production officially starting. The third year of our favorite schoolgirls was one of the victims of a great delay due to the dual union strikes in Hollywood last year. However, there would be a bonus episode in between the second and third season that would whet viewers’ appetites before the true continuation occurred.
The official Yellowjackets account on social media has just dropped an announcement that filming on season 3 has officially taken off. The announcement is followed by some teaser photos of the camp with one picture showcasing the script for the premiere episode. The post reads, “We know you’re starving… #Yellowjackets Season 3 is officially in production.” Which is then followed by a clapperboard emoji and a bee yellowjacket emoji. You can view the photos below.

The perils and plights of adolescence have long been a source of fascination for television audiences. That’s particularly apparent nowadays with Netflix, HBO, Hulu, Showtime, FX, and others vying for zeitgeist dominance with teen-focused dramas playing to a variety of creative strengths. As narratives have gotten more sophisticated overall across the TV landscape, it makes sense that the ways in which we look at stories about young people have also evolved. From “Never Have I Ever” to “Yellowjackets,” TV teens in 2023 are among some of the most rich ever written.

Does your Apple TV+ membership come and go with new seasons of “Ted Lasso”? [Jeff Foxworthy Voice:] Then you might be a “Show-Chaser.”
Serial churners are so 2023 — 2024 is the year of the show-chaser, according to research firm Antenna. These folks currently may be out hunting baby reindeer. In its first four days of availability, “Baby Reindeer” was viewed 2.6 million times, according to Netflix. The following week, its first full one, the limited series from (and starring) Richard Gadd exploded to 13.3 million views — more than a five-fold increase. That tally nearly doubled the next week to 22 million views.
“Baby Reindeer” is a sensation fueled by word of mouth — and by word on TikTok — the type that could singlehandedly bring Netflix some new subscribers. But these hypothetical members are not very likely to stick around; they’re show-chasers, an (at least) semi-undesirable subset of serial churners.

Penguin Random House “For a long time, I tried and struggled to find a space to use my voice and share my thoughts,” Maines told People. “I attempted to use my social media platforms for that purpose, but I found more times than not that I was running up against an immovable wall of online trolls and bigots. I needed a way to be able to say what I needed to say without inviting a pointless debate over my own humanity.” Through the lens...

Update: Disney has shared an image of Jeff Bridges taking a look at the Tron: Ares script, and that can be seen at the bottom of this article.
The original article follows:
The long-awaited third entry in the Tron franchise is finally in production. Six years after it was first announced that Jared Leto was in talks to star in a Tron project called Tron: Ares, the movie was all set to start filming last August – but then it had to wait out the writers and actors strikes. With those strikes over, filming is finally underway. Earlier today, we heard a quote from cast member Cameron Monaghan (Gotham), who said this film will “really push forward what can be done, from a visual perspective.” Now, we have another quote about the movie – and this is the one that every Tron fan has been waiting to hear. NBCUniversal announced on Monday that it was raising the price of a Peacock subscription by $2 per month on both of its tiers.
The peacock has always been a sign of extravagant wealth, and NBCUniversal appears to be leaning into that stereotype. As forecast by The Streamable's experts, on Tuesday, NBCU announced that it will be raising the subscription price of its streamer Peacock, and that beginning this summer, both of its two plans will cost $2 per month more than they do now. If that’s a little too much to pay for the relatively smaller content library of Peacock, and you’re thinking about canceling the service before the price hike kicks in, check below for options that will allow you to watch a much larger array of content for the same amount, or even less, each month!
Key Facts: Netflix offers ad-supported streaming for $1 per month less than Peacock’s new price.

Showtime has a tendency, even more so than most networks, to drag its shows on for way too long. From "Dexter" to "Weeds" to "Californication," their shows just can't quite seem to learn how to end on a high note. Whereas HBO tends to leave its audience wanting more, Showtime series stick around until the audience begs them to go away.
Such is the case with "Shameless," a show that could've gone down as one of the greats of the 2010s if only it hadn't tried to drag things out a solid four or five seasons past its natural expiration date. By season 11 it was in full zombie mode, with one of its leads gone with the wind and the others acting like shells of their former selves. Of course, not all of the latter seasons were terrible, just as not all of the early seasons were perfect. Here's our...

Melanie Lynskey recently told People magazine that her husband and fellow actor Jason Ritter has sacrificed his own career in recent years so that hers could flourish. Lynskey has been on a roll lately with an Emmy-nominated and series regular role on Showtime’s “Yellowjackets,” plus acclaimed supporting turns in “The Last of Us,” “Candy” and more. Melanie Lynskey is praising husband Jason Ritter for putting his own acting career on hold for her success.
“He’s the most supportive person in the world,” the Yellowjackets star told People magazine about Ritter, whom she began dating in 2013 and married in 2020. “The last few years we’ve had this role of like, whoever’s job makes the most sense, whether it’s the most exciting career wise or it’s more money, we would prioritize the one that was going to help move the person’s career forward.”
Lynskey added that her success comes at the expense of Ritter’s work, as he has been “getting offered stuff all the time” but has passed on roles in support of his wife. “It’s like genuinely sacrificing,” she said.
The actress also credited the Parenthood alum for encouraging her to take on her memorable role in the first season of The Last of Us.

Set in an alternate version of Earth, the series takes place in the same desolate world as the original games. Those who could afford it hid in their Vault-Tec vaults. As for the rest of humanity, they were forced to confront the horrors of this new world head on. Now over 200 years after that war, one young Vault Dweller will risk it all and travel to the surface.

If the most terrifying horror monsters are the ones that most reflect real-life terror, then cinematic cannibals might be the most terrifying monsters of all. Unlike vampires, werewolves, or ghosts, cannibals on film are fully flesh-and-blood humans — just with a taste for the flesh and blood of other humans. The garishness of the act makes cannibalism a perfect subject for shock horror, and the cannibal film fully came alive in the ’70s and ’80s via low-budget splatter triumphs like “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and “Cannibal Holocaust,” which pitted their protagonists against horrific waves of flesh eaters.
In recent years, cannibalism has had a bit of a “moment” — on film, at least. As The New York Times pointed out in 2022, a wave of movies, TV shows, and books exploring cannibalism has emerged in popular culture, from “Yellowjackets” to “Bones and All” to “Fresh.” Many of these projects use the practice as...

Ella Purnell continues her stellar history of video game adaptations with Fallout. The actress, 27, has successfully ventured into the video game industry with Netflix’s Arcane, an animated series based on League of Legends, after previously finding success with Home for Peculiar Children, Army of the Dead, and Yellowjackets.
The English actor does, however, display a more upbeat side as Lucy in the latest drama series, Fallout. During the first season’s eight-episode series, viewers will witness Lucy’s development from an eternally upbeat vault dweller with an all-American gumption to a more seasoned survivor who can handle the dangers and quirks of the wasteland.

Before making your 2024 Emmy predictions for Best Drama Series, take a tour of our photo gallery showcasing the leading contenders. Currently at the top of the heap is “The Crown,” which is looking to repeat its 2021 success in the category now that 2022-2023 winner “Succession” (which ended last May) is out of the race.
Of the eight shows that competed for this prize in 2023, only “The Crown” can do so this year. “Better Call Saul” joins “Succession” in having concluded during the 75th Emmys eligibility window, while ongoing series “Andor,” “House of the Dragon,” “The Last of Us,” “The White Lotus,” and “Yellowjackets” will not return in time to qualify for the 76th annual honors.
“The Crown” is indeed the lone past nominee in the mix this time, although the list of hopefuls includes a reboot of 1990s nominee “Quantum Leap” and two spin-offs of 1960s contender “Star Trek,” subtitled “Strange New Worlds” and “Discovery.

The team behind the original 1999 film The Blair Witch Project didn’t know about the plan for a new movie in the horror franchise until it was announced during Lionsgate’s CinemaCon presentation last week. But the filmmakers’ frustrations over their lack of involvement in the future of the series has been building for years.
“It’s bittersweet, honestly,” Ben Rock, production designer on the 1999 found-footage hit, tells The Hollywood Reporter about the planned reboot. He notes that no one from his film, including co-directors Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez, was involved in any significant way in the 2000 sequel, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, or the 2016 follow-up. Rock hopes this will change for the current project that is in the works from Lionsgate and Blumhouse, but so far, no one from the 1999 movie had been contacted or given a chance to pitch, he says.

As if relationships weren’t already so complicated, in Hollywood, it is a completely different level of mess. From lies to secrets to cheating scandals, every other fairytale couple in Tinseltown has been through that and more. Especially if it is a high-profile case, the whirlwind leaves a few rumors behind in the dust. The highly publicized Angelina Jolie-Brad Pitt split is a great example of that, where Pitt was once linked with Fallout star Ella Purnell.

Actress Sophie Nelisse opened up her experience portraying Irena Gut in the drama Irena’s Vow in her new uInterview.
Irena’s Vow chronicles the real-life experience of Irene Gut Opdyke, a Polish nurse who gained international recognition for helping Polish Jews during World War II when she risked her life to save a dozen Jews in a German army major’s own home.
Nelisse, a star of the hit TV series Yellowjackets, remembered the preparation that went into perfecting her portrayal of the heroine. “There was a lot of research that came into play because obviously, Irena was a real-life woman,” she told uInterview founder Erik Meers. “I, first of all, had to do a lot of Polish accent work – I worked with a dialect coach to lock down the accent, and then worked to find a lot of archives about Irena – some photos, videos online of her in her 60s,...

Paramount Global is pulling the plug on the standalone streaming version of its multiplex movie network Showtime.
The Showtime app will stop functioning on April 30, several months after Paramount integrated Showtime’s film and television content into the premium tier of Paramount Plus. The two flagship Showtime linear channels — Showtime East and Showtime West — were also rebranded to Paramount Plus with Showtime in January.
“Now that subscribers can access their favorite Showtime programs on Paramount Plus by subscribing to the Paramount Plus with Showtime plan, the Showtime streaming service will shut down on April 30, 2024,” a Paramount spokesperson said in a note to customers published earlier this month.
Paramount has allowed current monthly and annual Showtime subscribers to continue paying for an accessing the service for weeks after Showtime content was integrated into Paramount Plus.

Welcome to Emmy Experts Typing, a weekly column in which Gold Derby editors and Experts Joyce Eng and Christopher Rosen discuss the Emmy race — via Slack, of course. This week, we revisit the still unpredictable drama field.
Christopher Rosen: Hello, Joyce! It’s Friday and we’ve circled back to the most chaotic genre of this Emmys cycle: drama. That’s fitting, I guess, because, you know, drama! But this remains a field that’s wide open spaces, with a placeholder frontrunner in “The Crown” and then a bunch of new shows vying for attention and older series looking to get on the academy’s series radar for the first time. I don’t know what to make of this, except to wait patiently for one or more of those favored limited series to make the jump here. But until that happens, we must prognosticate with the hand we were dealt.
