This second season takes place a few months after the first and Olive is still keeping secrets; she hasn't told Chuck's aunts that Chuck is alive and she hasn't told Chuck that 'Aunt' Lily is actually her mother. She has managed to cope with this until Lily and Vivian turn up at The Pie Hole; just as it looks as if she is going to reveal the secrets she screams then says she can no longer work there. Aunt Lily offers to take her somewhere where she can sort her life out... a nunnery! As with all episodes there is also a mystery to be solved; this time a man is convinced that his girl friend was murdered... by a swarm of bees! The girl had been working for 'Betty's Bees' a company that makes honey based products. In order to find out who did it Chuck goes undercover and learns that the company had recently been taken over by a rival and the dead girl had been due to become the next face of Betty's Bees, replacing Betty herself... a motive for murder perhaps.
Having really enjoyed the first season of 'Pushing Daisies' I was keen for the second one to start and on the strength of this episode I think it will be as good as the first. The murder mystery was as surreal as ever and having Olive become a nun was hilarious! The lead actors continue to put in fine performances; I particularly liked the touching scenes (emotionally not physically of course) between Lee Pace and Anna Friel when Ned revives Chuck's dead bees. It look like we will be having more multi-episode stories this season as the various secrets still remain unrevealed and when the episode ends Olive is still at the nunnery and a mysterious man pays a visit to The Pie Hole.
