Jordan Peele is undoubtedly one of the most talented and important filmmakers of today. Although he was initially known as a comedian because of his Key & Peele series, he has since evolved into a complex and versatile filmmaker who is able to blend horror with strong social commentary. Get Out, Us, and Nope are the movies he directed, but he also produced several other major hits and also worked on the short-lived revival of The Twilight Zone. Now, while we do know that Peele himself is working on a new movie, while we’re waiting for more updates on that movie, we have more information about his next project, a movie he is producing!
The movie we are talking about is going to be directed by Justin Tipping, who has some experience with movies and television, with his most important works being Kicks (2016), Flatbush Misdemeanors (2021), and Joe vs. Carole...

The goat is him. That sounds a little strange, but that’s what has happened with the title of the upcoming Jordan Peele-produced horror movie. Once titled Goat (as in “greatest of all time”), the movie has since been retitled Him. It, too, has been given an official release date of September 19th, 2025.
Him was announced earlier this year, a few months before the most recent Jordan Peele production, Monkey Man, hit theaters. With that movie doing well with critics, Universal and Monkeypaw Productions are putting even more stock in him.
Him, which has been described as “an anti-sports horror movie”, was actually part of the 2022 Black List, the annual survey which reveals the best unproduced screenplays of any given year. Then known as Goat, Him has the following plot, as per The Black List: “A promising first-round draft pick is invited to train at the private compound of...

But one of its most prominent supporters was Carole Baskin, founder of Big Cat Rescue in Tampa, Florida, and a prominent part of the television series TIger King, which put the issue of private ownership of tigers and lions on the American radar screen. “I thought about [leaving] for a very long time, and it was very, very hard,” McKinnon said during the July 21 episode of “Live With Kelly and Ryan” (via TVLine). “All I ever wanted to do in my whole life was be on ‘Saturday Night Live.’ So, I did, I loved it, I had the best decade, and then I was just like, ‘My body was tired,’ and I felt like it was time.”

The “Fallout” TV series adaptation at Amazon has added Kyle MacLachlan, Xelia Mendes-Jones, and Aaron Moten to its cast as series regulars, Variety has learned exclusively.
The trio join previously announced cast members Ella Purnell and Walton Goggins in the series version of the popular video game franchise. As with past casting announcements, exact details on who the new additions will be playing are being kept under wraps.
Like the video games on which it is based, the “Fallout” series is set in a world where the future envisioned by Americans in the late 1940s explodes upon itself through a nuclear war in 2077.
MacLachlan is an iconic actor of the big and small screen, known for his work with David Lynch in projects like “Twin Peaks” (both the original and the Showtime revival), “Dune,” and “Blue Velvet.” On TV, he is also known for playing the mayor of Portland in...

There are some years where the TV trends are so obvious, it’s hard to ignore. And this year, one looms over all: The evolution of true crime, once the bastion of news magazines and cheesy made-for-tv movies of the week, into prestige television. That has been true for a while in the documentary space, but the sheer number of ripped-from-the-headlines tales taking over the scripted world is truly astounding.
And not all of them are tales of real-life death or murder (attempted or accomplished) — although plenty of them are, including “The Staircase,” “Candy,” “The Thing About Pam,” “Joe vs. Carole,” “The Girl From Plainville” and the aptly named “Dr. Death.” But what really stands out in this year’s glut of true crime are the depictions of wealthy scoundrels trying to get away with their own corporate malfeasance (while harming others in the process).

They join an ensemble led by Abigail Breslin, which also includes Luke Wilson, Andy Garcia and Donald Sutherland, as previously announced.
The film will tell the true story of Trish Weir (Breslin), who in 1963 was kidnapped and brutally raped by Ernesto Miranda. Committed to putting her assailant in prison, Trish’s life is destroyed by America’s legal system as she triggers a law that transforms the nation. Her case notably results in the establishment of the Miranda rights afforded to criminal suspects taken in police custody, to ensure the admissibility of statements made during interrogation, as part of subsequent criminal proceedings.

Some of “Saturday Night Live’s” biggest stars are expected to depart the cast in the biggest shakeup to the late-night show in years. Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon, Aidy Bryant and Kyle Mooney are all expected to depart, as Variety and Deadline each reported.
“SNL” honcho Lorne Michaels previously hinted that the next season of the long-running NBC sketch show would be “a year of change.” At the time, that seemed to point more toward “Weekend Update” co-anchor Michael Che, who recently told the New York Times that he’d been thinking of leaving “SNL” for the “past five seasons.”

Kate McKinnon is looking to extend her career Emmy nomination haul this year for her varied work on “Saturday Night Live.” On top of a bid in Best Original Music and Lyrics in 2014, the actress has been nominated for Best Comedy Supporting Actress every single year since 2014, winning the category twice, in 2016 and 2017. With eight acting bids under her belt in this category, she is already one of the four most-nominated performers in the history of Best Comedy Supporting Actress, but she will enter truly elite territory if she receives a 9th Emmy nomination this year.
Currently, McKinnon is tied with Megan Mullally, another two-time winner with eight acting nominations of her own for “Will & Grace.” If the sketch performer adds a ninth this year, she will only be behind two other actresses who have an astonishing 10 bids apiece — Rhea Perlman (“Cheers”) and Loretta Swit (“M*A*S*H...

Live from the Emmy Awards it’s … Kate McKinnon? The “Saturday Night Live” and “Joe vs. Carole” star is your top pick to host the 2022 Emmys on NBC, according to a recent Gold Derby poll. McKinnon came in with a whopping 42 of the vote, far ahead of your second place contender, Chris Rock, at 11. Scroll down for the complete poll results.
McKinnon is a two-time Emmy winner for Best Comedy Supporting Actress for “SNL” (2016 and 2017), thanks in large part to her impersonations of political figures like Hillary Clinton. She’s been nominated a whopping eight times for NBC’s late night sketch comedy series — that’s just two shy of the record of 10 bids in this category, shared by Rhea Perlman (“Cheers”) and Loretta Swit (“M*A*S*H”).
The last time NBC produced the Emmys was 2018, and McKinnon came out on stage to introduce a special celebration of Betty White.

Peacock ended the first quarter of the year with 28 million monthly active accounts and 13 million paid subscribers, Comcast revealed along with its Q1 earnings results Thursday.
That total is up from the 24.5 million monthly active accounts and nine million paid subscribers Comcast reported for the end of 2021 figures for the streamer, which has both free, ad-supported and paid, ad-free tiers. While revealing this data on the company’s call to discuss its first-quarter financial performance, Comcast chairman-ceo Brian Roberts warned the company does not anticipate this dramatic level of growth quarter-to-quarter for Peacock becoming the norm, as the four million paid subscriber additions are largely attributed to Peacock streaming both Super Bowl Lvi and the Beijing Winter Olympics during the quarter.

Peacock has given a straight-to-series order to the comedic thriller “Based on a True Story.”
The series hails from writer, executive producer, and showrunner Craig Rosenberg. Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan of Aggregate Films will also executive produce, with Roxie Rodriguez of Aggregate co-executive producing. UCP will serve as the studio.
Inspired by an actual event, “Based on a True Story” is about a realtor, a plumber and a former tennis star whose lives unexpectedly collide, exposing America’s obsession with true crime, murder and the slow close toilet seat.\
“There are some true stories that are stranger than fiction as is the case for the events that inspire this show,” said Beatrice Springborn, president of UCP. “It is a twisted, thrilling and incredibly funny series that combines the comic and suspense talents of the dream team of Craig Rosenberg, Jason Bateman, Michael Costigan and Roxie Rodriguez to create the perfect show for Peacock.

The Television Academy recently announced that the 2022 Emmys will take place on September 12. The ceremony is airing on NBC this year, continuing the tradition of switching regularly between the Big Four networks. A master of ceremonies has yet to be named, so now’s the time to guess who might be tapped to host by Emmy producers — and to throw out some suggestions that may not be on their radar. Remember, NBC/Universal will most definitely choose someone from their own family, so that means folks like Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel and James Corden will not be options. Who should host the 2022 Emmys? Vote in our poll below.

Legendary Entertainment’s sequel to “Godzilla vs. Kong” will return to film in Australia later this year.
It is expected to film at Gold Coast and other locations in Southeast Queensland state marking the third time that a Monsterverse title has lensed in the region. “Godzilla vs Kong” filmed on the Gold Coast in 2019, while “Kong: Skull Island” filmed in the state in 2016.
The currently untitled sequel will receive A$16 million ($11.8 million) via the Australian federal government’s A$540 million ($399 million) Location Incentive Program. A further A$6.3 million ($4.66 million) of subsidy will come from the state screen agency Screen Queensland and its Production Attraction Strategy.
The two authorities said on Monday local time that they expect the new production to generate more than A$119 million ($88 million) into the economy, employ more than 500 local cast and crew, and use more than 750 extras.

Two years after Netflix’s “Tiger King” swept the nation just as Covid struck, confining viewers to their homes and televisions, comes Peacock’s fictionalized take on the events that took place between Big Cat wrangler Joe Exotic and arch-nemisis Carole Baskin.
Peacock’s series — which is based on the Wondery podcast “Joe Exotic,” hosted and reported by Robert Moor — focuses more on Baskin’s point of view in the story, while “Tiger King” centered Joe Exotic. But to bring the story to life, a cadre of familiar faces fill the roles of the personalities “Tiger King” fans came to love (or love to hate).
Below we’ve rounded up a complete “Joe vs. Carole” cast and character guide for the show, all episodes of which are now streaming on Peacock.

Joe vs. Carole debuts on Peacock on Thursday, March 3, and while its titular characters are impossible not to know at this point, the actor playing Joe Exotic, series star John Cameron Mitchell, may be an unfamiliar face to some. But Mitchell is an icon of stage and screen in his own right. Ahead of his performance as the Tiger King star opposite Kate McKinnon‘s Carole Baskin, here’s everything you need to know about Mitchell. Before Mitchell was a TV star, he rocked Broadway with Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Mitchell created and starred in the Off-Broadway rock musical, which he developed with creative partner Stephen Trask. Like Little Shop of Horrors, the original 1998 production had a solely Off-Broadway run. It shot up in popularity, leading to the 2001 film adaptation directed by and starring Mitchell. It was Mitchell’s feature film directorial debut, as well as his first major screen acting credit,...

Remember that time, almost exactly two years ago, when pandemic lockdowns had just begun, and the scents of bleach spray and sourdough filled the air as we all united in our obsession with a mulleted, eyelinered man who bred tigers and his nemesis, an animal activist who wore animal prints and flower crowns? Well, it has been a long two years, so maybe it’s as good a time as any for a little early pandemic nostalgia, courtesy of Peacock’s eight-episode miniseries “Joe vs. Carole,” which revisits the story of the 2020 Netflix documentary “Tiger King,” this time in scripted form.
The question, of course, is whether this story warrants multiple retellings, especially in such a short period. Is the feud between animal-collecting showman Joe Exotic and big-cat rescue activist Carole Baskin really the “Macbeth” of our time? Or even the O.J. Simpson murder trial of our time?

The only good thing that could come out of Peacock’s abysmal “Joe vs. Carole” is if it’s the tipping point to a crisis in the TV industry regarding bloated, over-hyped, truly mediocre mini-series based on controversial stories that we already know. It is Exhibit A in the case against this kind of television in how little it justifies its existence (and especially its length). A decade ago, the true story here might have been an interesting piece of investigative journalism in a major magazine, and then, if luck prevailed, a 90-minute Sundance movie.

Two long years after Netflix first dropped its “Tiger King” docuseries, the first scripted stab at retelling the wild story of warring big cat enthusiasts Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin has landed, as was inevitable. “Joe vs. Carole,” premiering March 3 on Peacock, stars John Cameron Mitchell and Kate McKinnon as Joe and Carole as they vow to take the other down. At this point — months after a Netflix follow-up to “Tiger King,” podcasts such as the one this series is based on (Wondery’s “Over My Dead Body”), and countless memes and late-night jokes later — anything purporting to shed more light on this particular saga has a high bar to clear in order to be anything less than repetitive. In this respect, “Joe vs. Carole,” despite some decent performances and effective directing from Justin Tipping, rarely justifies its existence.

The names Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin have begun to feel like relics of a bygone era. The debut of Netflix’s documentary series “Tiger King” debuted nearly the same day the world shut down in the wake of the global pandemic in March 2020, leaving us questing for something, anything, to distract us from what lurked outside our door.
We found (what passes for) comfort in the outrageous story of a “gay, gun-carrying, redneck with a mullet” named Joe Exotic, an Oklahoma zoo owner, and his feud that devolved into a murder-for-hire plot against fellow (and equally kooky) big-cat enthusiast Carole Baskin. “Tiger King” felt like a global watch event with how much everyone discussed it on social media. Almost as quickly, two dueling projects focusing on Exotic and Baskin were announced: one set to star Nicolas Cage in the title role for CBS and the other, for NBC’s streaming service Peacock,...
