With Thelma and Louise they were just teed off at Men, now, with Miche and Louise - although this time around it's Louise who gets top billing - there's an arguably greater cause for all the bloodshed, our old friend redundancy. Chances are this one was planned at least and maybe even written long before the current financial crisis but whichever way you slice it it couldn't be more timely. Yolande Moreau is virtually the only name in the cast and even she probably means little outside France; she's a fine actress yet about the only other leading role she got was one that she wrote for herself and, for good measure directed as well. Nine times out of ten she's playing for laughs and/or warmth but this time she is able to get her teeth into something with more gravitas and does so superbly. To put it simply she's just another worker in a factory that closes literally overnight - the workers turn up one morning and the place is bare. No one can figure out what to do until Louise has a brainwave; kill the boss. That's it but as I keep saying it's all in the wrists and Yolande's are among the best in the business.
