It didn't do it nearly often enough but 'Carol's Second Act' was able to produce episodes of a very good standard, and this is one such example.
The storylines work, all of the supporting characters are given enough to do, and the slower moments that the writers keep putting in to have a bit of emotion, don't jar either.
It's also nice that for once a character (the returning Ashley Tisdale) puts Carol in her place a bit and points out how selfish she can be. Much needed.
Yes, the characters of Dr Jacobs and Caleb don't add very much, I'd have retooled the show and ditched them both by this point, but on the whole this is one of the better episodes of this show.
