Almost worth watching
giuseppejibbs8 January 2021
The film has a very promising opening, setting up a story of time travel that appears more believable than other treatments of the subject, while at the same time ingeniously employing time travel as a plot device to create a sense of foreboding. The quality quickly drops off, however, and much of the middle is more reminiscent of a high school group project than a professional film. This is largely intentional as the film is ostensibly composed of found footage, but it does not come across too well. Various audiovisual effects are used to convey the influence of time travel on reality itself; a good idea perhaps, but poorly executed and somewhat distracting. There are a few key revelations that are genuinely interesting both as plot points and in terms of more general questions that transcend the film itself, but for the most part there is little more than filler until the ending, in which the protagonist (and, by extension, the audience) is presented with a startling possibility about the universe and an impossible dilemma.

Given both the limited resources of the studio and the style they were going for, I think it would have been better if it were about an hour shorter. That said, it was still a decent movie and at times deeply thought-provoking. Modern science fiction films rarely have the courage to make such serious forays into the philosophical, but in the case of one "The Klatos Paradox" it proved one of its principle redeeming qualities.

Engaging and mysterious, a cinematic experience

This grabs your attention immediately with a sense of mystery and wonder. The music and effects clearly contribute much to the film and create the atmosphere necessary for time travel. Most time travel movies show what happens when time is fixed, but they never show the real consequences and moral dilemmas of it. I struggle to understand time travel storylines, but strong metaphors made it very easy to understand. Ultimately this movie rises above time travel to reveal much about humans and how we create what we fear most. I enjoyed it very much

This movie is a fantastic example of good independent filmmaking. For any up and coming filmmaker this is a must see. Great examples of cinematography and how to blend scenes over different time periods. This movie has a very interesting storyline for anyone interested in time travel/string theory and multiverse concept. Set mostly in first person this movie demonstrates very good examples of how to produce an actual quality motion picture on very low budget. Keep up the good work Mars Fargo and looking forward to what comes next from you.

Mars Fargo Masterpiece

This film was very fun to watch as Klatos persistently continues to alter the universe. The contrasting emotions of each character keeps the viewer on their toes and keeps the movie suspenseful. The Klatos Paradox is an original movie with a small budget and captivating trivia.
