It is not told in the usual atmosphere of life
deickemeyer13 November 2017
Not many spectators will find much in this picture that corresponds with real life. It has things that are not convincing and it is not told in the usual atmosphere of life; the changes are apt to be too abrupt. For instance, there is a character who seems to be a model and not a very respectable one and who suddenly turns out to be an heiress. Again, we find a very pretty and very well-dressed girl living alone in the woods and she tells a story of poverty and distress that would excite pity, if one could believe a word of it. The story has some value; but, as entertainment, the offering stands on its scenes alone. They are perfectly photographed. - The Moving Picture World, September 20, 1913
