Fantastic

First off Sara Tomkos acting in the scene her daughter finally discovers she's her mother is absolutely phenomenal, she deserves an award for that performance or a nom at the very least.

Alan Tudyk is the most likeable guy ever and his performance in this as Harry is nothing short of brilliant, every scene is such a breath of fresh air. This will make you smile from start to finish.

I really can't wait to see what happens next.

Most laugh out loud moments in ages!
marielilley26 February 2021
I wasn't sure at the first episode but then it just got better. My husband and I now hate waiting a week between episodes. It's funny, it's different, got a bit of mystery as well as the alien aspect. Love so many of the characters in this. Well worth a watch. Feel good factor is a 10 for me.

What is this show doing to me?!
marskiz26 February 2021
It's so..odd and dark...yet humorous at the same time that you can't help but see what Tudyk's alien character will do or say next! Normally just being strange doesn't work, but the writers are genius here, and Alan Tudyk as the alien is even more genius! A big shout out to Big Black too!!

Ummm... It's funny with its witty, dark humor, and even some tender moments throughout. Yet, the humor isn't all dark, as there is some come conventional humor spaced throughout too. Usually, my favorite parts are when Alan Tudyk's face is fully shown, which is quite often really, as he morphs his facial expressions to incorporate his incomprehension toward the human species, or his bewilderment by what these new human "feelings" are doing to him.

This show is not that unique in its attempt to put an alien into a human body, however that works! What is unique is it's amazing character writing, story progression, dark humor, enjoyable characters other than the main actor here, and Tudyk's alien performance elevates this show above most others in its genre. All the side characters in Patience, Colorado have their own fun personalities that complement the show very well.

It just works! So many things work, which is rare for any show to pull off. It has a Monk (Tony Shalhoub) TV show type of vibe with how the actors really connect in a funny, and unpretentious way.

Bye. I gotta go scrub the pans...

Best of all worlds (no pun intended)
mjohnslo-6556426 February 2021
As funny as King of Queens dead pan humor, mix in interconnected and changing storylines as good as Knots Landing combined with excellent cultural insight ala Cold Pursuit movie. I rarely say and really mean it but watching this show after some character development has had me literally laughing out loud for the first time in months. This show is as good as 2 shots of Phizer to cure the COVID blues!! Hope future episodes keep pace with ones already watched.

Great dark humor!
leisahayes22 March 2022
Love it! Love the roles, everyone's & the dark humor is to die for! I also can hardly wait for the week till the next episode. I am in love with Harry & Asta, & also the whole town. I hope no one jumps off the bus on this, because everyone fits! Was really hoping the top cop & his beautiful side would become real partners. Maybe in the future. Dan rocks it! JUST GOTTA LOVE EVERY BIT OF IT! How i could rant on... keep up the great work.

Love Language

Warning: Spoilers
Resident Alien has a fair amount of plotting and this episode add mores story threads.

It starts with a flashback to when Harry Vanderspeigle first met a young English artist Isabelle who he went on to marry.

Now Isabelle has returned regarding their divorce and finds out that Harry is working as a doctor. While the Alien finds out about love and intimate contact.

It becomes clear that Harry gave up his medical practice and came to live in the middle of nowhere. It is implied someone or some people are after Harry.

With more storylines being seeded, Resident Alien decides to seemingly wrap up a few. Harry looks like he has reached an understanding with Max and Sahar.

Well it would look bad is the lead of the show is a child killer. Just let him blow the planet up.

What Resident Alien does in a surprisingly manner are the domestics. This is in contrast with the rebooted Walker and The Equalizer.

Asta and Jay's story is not dragged out. Jay finds out that Asta is her biological mother. Just look at that simple scene in the diner with Jay and her grandfather. He just tells her that family don't have to pay.

It was even better and funnier when Asta's douchebag husband returns and Harry stays close by like a ninja.

Wow.

My wife and I are really enjoying this show. I really hope that SyFy doesn't mess it up. This show deserves another season. Every time I think I know what is going to happen, because that is always what happens in alien on earth shows/movies, something else happens.

Alan Tudyk is amazing in the lead role.

The Vulcan ex-wife has destroyed the plot
rsvp32127 February 2021
This series has completely derailed from the alien's original mission, and has become a boring soap.

The needy, clingy, ex wife is a boring distraction, the kids are annoying, and the writers have apparently run out of good comedic ideas.

Awful!

Was waiting for this episode
rfc-1973910 March 2021
The show started out funny but started to slide. I told my wife they need to focus on him more. Not the drama that is occurring with some of the other characters, unless you didn't want to watch a comedy. Well this episode hit it out of the park. If they keep this formula of him dealing with different aspects of human life and his condescending view of human life in general, they got a real hit on their hands.

Show has improved!
xbatgirl-300297 November 2021
Ok, I was really liking the show after the third episode but I was bugged by how much didn't make sense. Things really improved the past two episodes. Episode 4 has been my favorite so far. Then I noticed the director of both 4 & 5 was Jay Chandrasekhar! What a great job! He is so underrated as a director. I really enjoyed the story arc of Harry's nemesis being the kid (except when he tortured him while getting stitches). But I think I'd also like Harry having someone he can get advice from on being human. I'm not thrilled the ex-wife has showed up, even though it led to some funny scenes. I'm tired of shows that throw in every obstacle possible to keep the obvious main couple apart.

Getting better but a missed opportunity
aambrosio-0600825 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
They didn't need to end the Harry and the kid storyline halfway into the season, other than that though the episode was really good.

Great Acting
finha-106532 June 2021
Such a great show! The way the feelings are portrayed from the point of view of someone whos discovering them feels genuine.

Elvy got 1:30s to deliver one of the best bits in this episode and she nailed it.

I had to rewind the music scene a few times until I got satisfied.
