This German documentary tells thoroughly about the complete history of the NSDAP (National Socialistisches Deutsche Arbeiter Partai) which translates to the Nationalist Socialist German Workers Party. The party wasn't really a democratic political party, nor was it socialistic or a workers party. It was a mean to create a dictatorship, which was soon to ban all other parties and youth organizations.
It tells about the start in 1920, where Adolf Hitler, a former soldier in the first World War felt like all other Germans that the way Germany was treated after the war as unfair. It was, of course, and in a starving country there was only to be expected that this could lead to radicalization of the country. That it was a right wing radicalization, was very much due to Hitler's communicative power. The discussion group he was a part of, and soon a leader of, turned into a part, NSDAP, which soon took on a way to be elected. But this went to slow for Hitler. He tried a coup d'etat, which faltered, and he was arrested. The party was disbanded. But just as Hiotler came out of prison, he refunded the party in 1925, now saying they wanted to go the democratic way. They did, and a few years later, in 1930 they got 18,3 % of the total votes after there had been crises after crises in elections, and no less than 12 prime minsters since the end of the WW1. In 1932 NSDAP got more than 30% of the votes, and there was no other way than appointing Hitler to prime minister (Reichskansler). From there on the movement grew, and it all lead to the tragedy of the WW2.
This film is suitable for all educational purposes. It's no wonder very talkative, but accompanied by great achieve footage from the events, makes it very interesting. A thorough presentation which give you a insight into what was the reason the party could get such support from a nation. Important to learn from, no doubt.
