There’s something completely psychotic and beautiful about the sort of people who come up with the theories of movie lore that make the stories that wrap around them so much more interesting and wonderful. Every time here, the theories make sense, and a lot of it completely figures into the organic lore of the film.
That being said, there are some truly off-the-wall ones, and those are easily the more fun ones. Be they there for fixing anachronisms or for completely giving a new appreciation to the more obscure questions posed by these films, a movie fan’s way of expanding the mythology of their favorite films is a medal of pure honor.
I have stayed far away from theories revolving around Star Wars or The Matrix because for one, there are thousands of them, and two, I don’t have the brainpower going to be able to understand...

Director: Joseph J. Lawson. Review: Adam Wing. ‘The Asylum presents’ is a headline that sends shivers down the spine of film fans the world over. Responsible for cinematic atrocities (or mockbusters as they’ve come to be known) like Paranormal Entity and Snakes on a Train, The Asylum has been churning out direct-to-video masterpieces for the past 15 years. It’s probably best known (in my world at least) for giving 80s pop stars Debbie Gibson and Tiffany a new lease of life, and reminding me once and for all why nostalgia is best left in the past. But films like Mega Shark Vs Giant Octopus are sure to stand the test of time – unless of course it’s quality entertainment you’re after. In which case, you might want to give War of the Worlds 2: The Next Wave a wide berth. Joseph J. Lawson leads the charge on this one,...

Honest Abe has been a busy man as of late, what with fighting back bloodsuckers in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and now in the Asylum’s obligatory knock-off, Abraham Lincoln Vs. Zombies. The Asylym has to have the fastest turnaround time in cinema right now, because their takes on major titles arrive with lightning speed, always landing on rental shelves just before their (unknowing) major release counterparts hit big screens. A quick look at their catalog reveals groan inducing almost-hits like Snakes On A Train, Transmorphers, 2012 Doomsday, War Of The Worlds 2: The Next Wave, Death Racers, Titanic 2, and The Amityville Haunting. Now we can add a scythe wielding Lincoln to the list.
Abraham Lincoln Vs. Zombies stars Don McGraw, Baby Norman, Canon Kuipers, and Bill Oberst Jr. as Lincoln. The movie hits the home market on May 22, exactly one month before Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter sees theaters on June...

When my local neighborhood grocery store recently set out a dump bin overflowing with cheap, previously-viewed movies, I didn’t think too much about it. More often than not, all they’re peddling are cheesy, low-budget family flicks or mainstream movies everyone and their grandmother already owns. Imagine my surprise, then, when I stumbled upon used copies of “Command Performance”, “Trailer Park of Terror”, “Webs”, “War of the Worlds 2: The Next Wave”, and “Flu Birds” for next to nothing. My head nearly exploded from the sheer awesomeness of it all. Was this self-indulgent splurge a worthwhile investment? The full report resides below. Here they are, in no particular order: ——— Webs (2003)What happens when you let Richard Grieco and a group of bumbling electricians fiddle around with a minature nuclear reactor? You guessed it — they open a portal into an alternate dimension populated with bloody-thirsty man-spiders hellbent on murdering everyone on the planet.

It looks like Ponyboy Curtis himself, C. Thomas Howell, is joining the cast of Marc Webb’s “Spider-Man” reboot. He updated his Facebook page with the news that he will join the cast, including Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, and others, in Los Angeles on January 25th, where filming is already underway. As of this moment there is no word on what role Howell will play. While Howell’s “The Outsiders”/“Red Dawn”/“The Hitcher” heyday may have passed, he has certainly kept himself busy. He recently had a guest spot on an episode of USA Network’s “Psych”, and has even become a bit of a director. He’s taken the helm of low-budget sci-fi films like “The Day the Earth Stopped” (not to be confused with “The Day the Earth Stood Still”, those were two different days), and “War of the Worlds 2: The Next Wave...

The idea of a sequel to James Cameron's Titanic has been a Hollywood punchline for years; the epitome of zero creativity, sequelitis and cash-in motivations. Sadly, a studio did actually make a Titanic II. It's no longer a joke. Titanic II is very much so a real movie and it has a real trailer (unlike the dozens of fake, fan-made trailers that have emerged over the years).
Now if you're wondering how Titanic II came to be, I need only name-drop a single production company: The Asylum. Yep, Titanic II will be emerging on August 24 from the mockbuster factory that produced 30,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Snakes on a Train, War of the Worlds 2: The Next Wave and ... The 9/11 Commission Report (of course they have no shame). It stars Bruce Davison, Brooke Burns and Dick Van Dyke's son, Shane Van Dyke, who actually also wrote and directed this...

Pop star Tiffany - best known for her 80s hit I Think We're Alone Now - has recently been making the transition into feature films, beginning with the 2009 thriller Necrosis, also released under the name Blood Snow.
This month will see the singer appearing in the Metrodome release Mega Piranha, which gets a limited cinema run in London on July 16 and comes out on DVD on August 9. A trailer for the film is included below.
It's from the same studio that brought us last year's Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus, starring fellow 80s pop star Debbie Gibson, in which two prehistoric sea-creatures wreaked havoc after being thawed out from a glacier.
Mega Piranha is written and directed by Eric Forsberg, now well known in the mockbuster genre as the man who penned Snakes on a Train, 30,000 Leagues Under the Sea and War of the Worlds 2: The Next Wave.
