About 20 minutes into this episode there is a shot of the exterior of the 'art gallery' where the heist is about to take place. This building is in fact the beautiful Walt Disney Concert Hall at 111 South Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles, California, designed by Frank Gehry, architect of the similarly metal clad Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, museum of modern art, in Bilbao, northern Spain. Gehry had actually wanted to clad the facade of the building in stone, so that the building would glow at night, whereas metal goes dark at night, but the committee overseeing the project insisted on a metal facade, so taken were they by the look of the Guggenheim in Bilbao.
The heist is based on the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum theft. Two men posed as police officers and gained entrance to the museum, subduing security and robbed the museum for an hour. The case remains unsolved and the art work never recovered.
When Maddie warns Chimney of the takeover by saying "I love you, Howie" to end their call, his text messages back are:
"Hey, that was unexpected, but great..." "Okay. Maybe a little weird too." "Call me when you can." "Maddie, is everything okay?"
