The character Madisynn is an original character specifically written for the show, and she became so popular among fans that a cult following around her started immediately. Fans were expecting that she would make another appearance in the show, which didn't happen. According to writer and producer Jessica Gao, it was only after Patty Guggenheim was cast that they knew they had a breakout character on their hands. Gao also said that if she had known Guggenheim from the very beginning, she definitely would've written her into more episodes. Madisynn later made her comic debut, albeit only in form of dialogue, in the comic "What If... Venom #3" that is set in another reality.
