All about time
Absolutely loved the concept for "It's About Time". It is one of the most unique concepts for 'Phineas and Ferb' and one of the most creative too. Saw it for the first time way back when it first aired, which was when getting into the show and very quickly getting hooked, and it was wonderful back then. Have made no secret here about loving great, promising concepts and premises, especially when it's either inventive or a daring one, and have always hated it when they are wasted.
Fortunately, the concept for "It's About Time" is far from wasted in an episode that is every bit as imaginative and unpredictable in execution. Didn't find anything repetitive about it at all and although it had the same basic formula to usual somehow it felt different. "It's About Time" was one of my favourite 'Phineas and Ferb' episodes just over a decade ago, it continued to be on multiple re-runs and it still is. One of those episodes that actually got better with each watch.
"It's About Time" is very well animated once again. Vibrantly coloured and the backgrounds has lovely attention to detail, plus it is visually quite ambitious for 'Phineas and Ferb' at this point of the show's run. The music is dynamic with the action and the theme song is insanely catchy with very clever and quotable lyrics that anybody still in school fishing for how to spend their vacation will relate to. Have also always adored the songs in the Perry the Platypus and Dr Doofenschmirtz subplot, "When We Didn't Get Along" and "My Nemesis" are two of my favourites of the whole show and packed a big emotional wallop.
The writing is still a winner here, it is very intelligent and mature while also having more than enough for younger audiences especially the Jurassic age scenes. Scenes that were very affectionate and thrillingly done. Some of my favourite writing was when popular culture was skewered, which contains some hilarious dialogue for particularly Doofenschmirtz, and everything with Dr Feelgood (have not seen many episodes for anything to send up reality relationship television so entertainingly).
While everything with Phineas and Ferb is full of excitement and nostalgic fun, fans of dinosaurs and the Jurassic age should love their subplot, the Perry and Doofenschmirtz subplot has always done a little more for me. There are some hilarious moments as well as some truly poignant ones, it was great to see some character development for Perry (this is one of the main episodes that made him my personal favourite of the character) and see his and Doofenschmirtz's relationship in a whole new light and more than just foes. Very difficult to not feel bad for him.
All the characters are extremely well written, especially Perry and Doofenschmirtz. The voice acting is great.
In conclusion, wonderful and one of my favourite 'Phineas and Ferb' episodes. 10/10
