informative but dry

I have seen 'Inde 2025' as a 'Thema' evening at the European ARTE TV station. It is overall a good informative documentary on the development of India, quite fit for evening TV reporting. It starts from the India hi-tech wave to deal later with the rural and agricultural environment and discuss in the final the political implications of the raise of India. All over we are getting a lot of 'what-if' scenarios and the opinion of many experts in the respective fields. Maybe too many of them - and this is the main problem of 'Inde 2025', at least if you try to relate to it too anything else than an informational session. I would have preferred to hear more information about how lifes of regular people are impacted, and what are their hopes and fears about future. Missing also is almost totally is the cultural dimension, which is kind of a paradox for an ARTE film, and the political part was somehow too reduced relative to the plenty of economy information. This was not a bad start with for somebody who knows so little about India as I do, but certainly more and better documentaries will be made about this raising world power.
