In a story likely to evoke a bit of déjà vu, yet another Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is reportedly in the works, with SNL Weekend Update co-anchor Colin Jost set to co-write the script with brother Casey Jost, awaiting a yet-to-be tapped director. However, news on this particular project arrives a mere five years after the franchise’s last live-action iteration released its sequel and presumed swan song, 2016’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, leaving a possibility that the new movie might just be a threequel. Moreover, like its predecessor, the mysterious movie project will be a production of Paramount Pictures and the very same producers, notably the auteur of onscreen explosions himself, Michael Bay. So, are we getting a new iteration of the Turtles or not?
While the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie project, as reported by Deadline, has a tight lid securing indicative details such as its plot,...

It seems like only yesterday when Donatello, Michaelangelo, Leonardo, and Raphael first came Out Of The Shadows. Well, as the kids say, ready to feel old? The last Ninja Turtles movie came out five whole years ago. Surely, that’s too long to go without ooze—let alone the ooze’s many secrets (the secret is, the ooze…...

The young adult books in the The High Republic series continue to shine. Justina Ireland deepens a character who appeared in her middle grade installment, precocious Jedi Vernestra Rwoh, and adds a new hero with a strong, compelling connection to the underpinnings of the era in Wave 2’s Out of the Shadows.
Set about 200 years before The Phantom Menace, the High Republic is the Golden Age of the Jedi…but there are still some pesky threats. The pirate Nihil can create their own gravity wells and manipulate hyperspace, threatening any galactic travelers. Onto this scene comes Sylvestri Yarrow, a cargo hauler who discovers what she thought she knew about her mother was just a fraction of the truth. A classic Star Wars family clash, a deep dive into the workings of hyperspace, and the developing relationships between Jedi make this an entertaining book, even if the first half goes a lot slower than the second.

To honor the milestone anniversaries of some of cinema’s scariest legends, Universal Pictures launched the Universal Monsters: Out of the Shadows contest, which will be hosted on the Tongal content creation platform.
The art initiative calls for U.S. residents to create an original character inspired by Universal’s classic cast of monsters, including Dracula, The Wolfman, Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Mummy, Phantom of the Opera, Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Invisible Man. It runs from Feb. 11 through March 4 and hopes to discover visionary artists.
“We are seeking creatives who are drawn to the narrative that the Universal Monsters are the original outsiders, misfits and misunderstood,” said Holly Goline, a Universal film executive in charge of Universal Monsters.
Tasked with telling a story through one image of a creature, artists must create original, imaginative storytelling through their artistic medium of choice, whether...

You get the distinct impression that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is just one of those brands that’ll get rebooted in perpetuity, with five live-action and one animated movie hitting the big screen over the last 30 years, as well as six TV shows. The last feature length outing for the heroes in a half shell was a major disappointment, with Out of the Shadows earning less than half as much at the box office as its predecessor.
Wasting absolutely no time, two years later it was announced that yet another reboot was in the works, this time with the unexpected news of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg producing through their Point Grey Pictures banner. The presence of the comedy specialists indicates that there’s going to be a rich vein of humor running through the next version of the property, but Rogen has promised it’ll also deal with the realities of being a teenager,...

On Thursday, YouTube became the latest platform to crack down on QAnon, the baseless conspiracy theory promoting the idea of a deep state leftist cabal of pedophiles and child traffickers.
In a blog post, the company said that it would be “taking another step in our efforts to curb hate and harassment by removing more conspiracy theory content used to justify real-world violence.” It specifically cited QAnon as an example, noting that it had removed thousands of individual QAnon-themed videos and hundreds of QAnon-affiliated channels as a result of this policy update.

Not a lot of longtime Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans were ever truly sold on the idea of Megan Fox playing April O’Neil, and her performances in the 2014 reboot and sequel Out of the Shadows did little to assuage those doubts. After all, the 34 year-old has never exactly been highly regarded for her acting prowess, even if the quality of the performances are often the least important thing in an effects-heavy blockbuster.
Jonathan Liebesman’s take on the material didn’t fare particularly well with critics, but raked in almost $500 million at the box office, and it appeared that the title heroes were back in a big way and set to lead a blockbuster franchise. However, takings fell off a cliff when the sequel hit cinemas and it wound up falling almost $250 million short of its predecessor, which is a pretty jarring drop.

Vin Diesel has one of the most instantly recognizable voices in the industry, so it comes as a surprise that there isn’t a greater desire to get him into the recording booth more often to capitalize on those gravelly tones. He’s lent his vocal talents to the title character in The Iron Giant, as well as the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Groot, but the latter is heavily modulated and only speaks variations on one phrase.
Having recently released his first music single for some inexplicable reason, the 53 year-old has certainly shown that he’s got a lot more versatility than simply mumbling the word ‘family’ over and over again in Fast & Furious sequels. And while Diesel has also lent his voice to several video games and short films as Richard B. Riddick as well, insider Daniel Richtman now claims that the tank top enthusiast wants to join...

Like many other beloved properties that first rose to prominence in the 1980s, it appears that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will keep getting rebooted in perpetuity, similar to the likes of Transformers and Terminator. After box office takings fell off a cliff for the Michael Bay-produced film series after the second installment, another feature-length reboot is already in the works with Seth Rogen attached to produce and possibly have a hand in writing the script.
Rogen’s movie will be the second computer-animated effort following 2007’s forgotten Tmnt, and the seventh theatrical release in total after the original live-action trilogy, along with 2014’s hit Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and much less successful sequel Out of the Shadows. It isn’t just on the big screen where the heroes in a half shell are seeking a new lease of life, either, as they’ve been the stars of four...

Last week, we learned that a new Teenage Mutants Ninja Turtles movie is coming – a CG-animated venture, headed for theaters, that’s set to be produced by Seth Rogen and his Point Grey Pictures label. But this isn’t the only new Tmnt project that’s in the works. We previously brought you the news that ViacomCBS is likewise developing another live-action film and we may now know who the villain in it will be.
Earlier this year, we learned that the studio was developing a darker take on the franchise inspired by the original comic books. Apparently, there was some concern about the tone of it after the R-rated Birds of Prey disappointed at the box office in February, but the project is still going ahead and now, our latest intel tells us that the villain of the piece will be Krang. At least, that’s according to sources...
