Curiosity Rests with the Constellations and Races with the Ice Cream
WeatherViolet3 September 2010
First, in the City, The Dooman and Hundley the Doorman's Dachshund roast in summer heat. But in the Country, Curious George goes swimming in the pond, as the Man with the Yellow Hat lounges upon the raft to avoid the heat.

Well, after dark, Curious George counts stars in the sky over Country, tallying figures, but losing count, and falling asleep. The Man in Yellow Hat quietly carries Curious George upstairs and tucks him in for the night.

Now, next evening, Curious George discovers that he must start all over to tally stars, so the pattern repeats itself, with Curious George's falling asleep outdoors again.

And by morning, Curious George wonders what happens to the stars by daylight. Do they go to sleep? Does the sun extinguish their glow? Or does a man named Lenny pull the switch?

Well, Bill the Country Neighbor Boy explains that sunlight obfuscates our view of stars from earth's humble vantage point, so that evening, Curious George charts the constellation "Big Dipper" then tallies stars in various directions.

But come morning, the Man in Yellow Hat announces that it's time to head into the City, where the Doorman announces not to activate the lobby nor apartment air conditioning units to conserve energy.

So, that evening, while the Man with the Yellow Hat tries to fall asleep, Curious George, neither, so he walks out onto the balcony to count the stars. But where did they go? Why can't Curious George see the stars after dark in the City?

Well, Curious George decides to turn on the air conditioner, and the electricity across the City goes off. So, thinking that he has caused the power outage, Curious George sneaks onto the rooftop to hide in the cage with Compass the Doorman's Almost-Homing Pigeon.

Now, the Doorman explains that the real reason for the power outage happens when carpenter ants gnaw through the cables in Ohio (which rules out Ohio as a possible setting for the City's location, as well as states not sharing electricity cables with Ohio).

So, will the Doorman and the Man with the Yellow Hat be able to locate Curious George once the City lies in darkness and "Curious George Sees Stars?"

-----

Next, in the City, on another bright and sunny day, the Man with the Yellow Hat wins a trophy for placing 17th in a running marathon. Curious George shows the Doorman and Hundley the Doorman's Dachshund the trophy, and in the apartment, the Man with the Yellow Hat explains to Curious George what a trophy is for, as they wash the running marathon trophy, as well as the Man with the Yellow Hat's Yellow Hat Mountain trophy.

Well, Curious George decides that he may also merit a trophy, by behaving like a good little monkey, and lending Chef Pisghetti a hand, by washing dishes because no one else is around to assist Chef Pisghetti, who rewards Curious George with his first trophy: "Ice Cream Gnocchi," his new dessert shaped in the form of Gnocchi, Chef Pisghetti's pet Cat.

Now, Curious George is eager to show his platter of Ice Cream Gnocchi to the Man with the Yellow Hat, but when Curious George carries Ice Cream Gnocchi into the rear alley, Gnocchi, Chef Pisghetti's pet Cat decides to investigate, as do Charkie the black Cocker Spaniel and Betsy and Steve, each who asks for a taste, but Curious George keeps Ice Cream Gnocchi intact, or at least what's left of it after his trophy begins to melt.

So, when Curious George returns to Chef Pisghetti, to show him what has become of Ice Cream Gnocchi, Chef Pisghetti explains that ice cream melts in the hot sun, so to hurry back to the apartment with the second Ice Cream Gnocchi, which Chef Pisghetti awards to Curious George.

Well, Curious George tries to hurry to get away from Gnocchi, Charkie, Betsy and Steve, and so Curious George carries the second Ice Cream Gnocchi into Miss Donuts Shoppe, where Mrs. D. hands Curious George a cardboard container to cover the second Ice Cream Gnocchi, which he sneaks passed Hundley the Doorman's Dachshund, and into the apartment, but to find no Yellow Hat to be found.

But when Compass the Doorman's Almost-Homing Pigeon flies inside to land upon the second Ice Cream Gnocchi, Curious George returns it to Chef Pisghetti, who hands him a third Ice Cream Gnocchi, which he, once again, sneaks passed Gnocchi, Charkie, Betsy and Steve, to run toward Apartment Building 7, where Hundley presses the elevator button for Curious George to escape, but Curious George hits into a lobby plant, getting a leaf on the third Ice Cream Gnocchi and decides to rinse it off inside the kitchen sink.

Now, when Curious George returns to Chef Pisghetti for a fourth Ice Cream Gnocchi, Chef Pisghetti tells him to keep it out of the hot sun, not to allow Compass to land upon it, and not to run water over it because it is ice cream, after all.

Well, when Curious George runs to pass Gnocchi, Charkie, Betsy and Steve with the fourth Ice Cream Gnocchi, this time Gnocchi, Charkie, Betsy and Steve decide that Curious George gets to enjoy all of that ice cream, but they get none, and so they trail Curious George and fourth Ice Cream Gnocchi into Miss Donut, where he obtains another box, which he hands to the Doorman, as Hundley gets into the chase for the fourth Ice Cream Gnocchi, but is locked in the hallway with Gnocchi, Charkie, Betsy and Steve once Curious George shows his fourth fourth Ice Cream Gnocchi trophy to the Man with the Yellow Hat, as Compass looks on.

So, will Betsy and Steve, Gnocchi, Charkie, Hundley and Compass ever get the chance to receive a share of Ice Cream Gnocchi after "Curious George Gets a Trophy?"
