Fails to make a deep impression

The story of this picture fails to make a deep impression on us. That boy lacks what would make us sympathetic and we cannot give to his adventures the attention that a really interesting picture would excite. It is clearly photographed and has interesting backgrounds. - The Moving Picture World, July 25, 1914
