Superb PPV

Backlash 08 was an awesome payperview with a bunch of good matches. One of WWE's best of the year.

1.US Championship: MVP(c) vs. Matt Hardy A continuation of their very long-running feud. It was a great way to kick off the show and both guys did really well. Hardy wins after a Twist of Fate to win the championship. Good match. 7/10.

2.ECW Championship: Kane(c) vs. Chavo Guerrero. It was way better than the 8 second match they had at Wrestlemania, and was surprisingly exciting. Bam Neely got involved at parts to help Chavo, which kept things interesting. Chavo reversed many moves by Kane, but ultimately loses after Kane catches Chavo by the throat as he attempted a Frog Splash, then chokeslammed him to retain his championship. Entertaining. 7/10.

3.Big Show vs. The Great Khali Khali has zero wrestling ability, so the match was typically slow, with Khali locking Big Show in various submission holds. Big Show wins after an impressive chokeslam. Awful. 3/10.

4.Batista vs. Shawn Michaels One of the better matches of the night. It was good and long and very intense. Towards the end, Michaels appeared to have been injured when reversing a Batista Bomb, but was just bluffing in order to catch Batista off guard with Sweet Chin Music to win the match. Great match. 8/10.

5.Mickie James, Ashley, Maria, Kelly Kelly, Cherry and Michelle McCool vs. Beth Phoenix, Melina, Jillian Hall, Victoria, Natalya, and Layla Extremely entertaining for every guy watching the show. Also one of the better Divas matches in a while because they actually gave it some time. As a wrestling match it was actually quite decent. Beth Phoenix's team gets the win. 6/10.

6.World Heavyweight Championship: The Undertaker(c) vs. Edge Almost as good as their Wrestlemania match but not quite as memorable. Easily second best match of the night. They beat the hell out of each other and the match was very intense. The Edge-heads getting involved later was also interesting. Undertaker wins after forcing Edge to submit to his deadly submission hold, then refuses to let go until some time after the bell rings. Awesome match between the rivals. 9/10.

7.Fatal Four Way Elimination Match for the WWE Championship: Randy Orton(c) vs. John Cena vs. JBL vs. Triple H It more than made up for the lackluster triple threat match for the title at Wrestlemania. It was a classic intense battle. JBL gets eliminated 10 minutes into the match by submitting to Cena's STFU. Right as he taps out, Orton punts Cena in the head and pins him. This irked me a little because Cena was doing so well and I felt he could have lasted way longer. Down to two, this was essentially a No DQ match between Orton and Triple H. A good one at that though. They fought one on one for almost 20 more minutes, with both of them reversing each other's finishers numerous times. Orton even RKO'd Triple H at one point, but Triple H kicked out. In the end, Triple H hits the Pedigree to win the match and the WWE Championship, ending Orton's 7 month reign. An instant classic and rightfully the main event of the show. 10/10.
