The film recreates Kertesz's life across his photographies. He was born in Budapest, Hungary. He began to take pictures of his family, friends and finally his village. As he says he didn't wanted to be fancy, he just wanted to portrait his real environment and his pleasures. Then, a few years later, he was recruited for the WWI but after being wounded in the hand he moved to Paris to continue with his passion. He met a lot of artists like Colette, Eisenstein, Chagall and Mondrian that became his friends and now his photographie was based in daily Parisians life. As Kertesz says "Paris accepted me, Paris made me", he was reborn over there. It was one of his happiest times, his pictures were published in the magazines and he was completely free. With all his works he captivated the attention of the US and moved there to work as a freelancer. He became the main figure of a new wave of naturalist photographie in contrast of the liberalism and the capitalism. As all his pre-work he achieve his goal to show daily people and features from New York in order to exalt life. He was distinguished by different awards during his career.
