When Gladden James loses at cards and steals money to pay his debts, Irving Cummings tells his beautiful sister that he will replace the money if she marries him. Otherwise, it's off to prison for the foolish young man.
I'm not sure who is playing the sister, nor who directed this, but it's done in full melodramatic style, with her fleeing to jump off a big rock into a concealed mattress, only to be stopped by the saintly do-gooder who pops up out of nowhere. No gesture is too big for her. It's ridiculous by modern standards, although not by the standards of the stage melodrama of the day.
Irving Cummings would not remain in front of the camera forever. He would soon become a director, and a very good one too.
