This is one of my favorite episodes for this show, this episode does have comedy but it's more of a documentary staple on a very bizarre but true portion of video game history.
Yeah, I have heard about that "Custard's Revenge" video game for the Atari 2600. I honestly couldn't believe it was ever even made, how in the hell the content let alone overall concept of the game ever got green lit, is anyones guess.
Though I didn't know how far this company "Mystique" took things as they were trying to induce porn to the video game world. I know what your thinking how can this be possible; well really far back in the 80's decade the video game subculture was just on the rise and there were such things as rating systems, which meant there was unlimited freedom with concepts. The conception to these porn games was mainly a way to attract and cash in on the adult demographic because they felt that video games were solely for kids and teenagers; oh boy how wrong they were on both counts.
The games are really bad, most of them are knocks offs of some classics we know and love. While others are just plain weird, like some fantasy game where you're a knight trying to save a princess and once you do well you just have to see for yourself; though what's stranger is both characters look like Who's from Dr. Seuss which makes the game even more trashier.
I can't help but crack up to James sarcasm and comments. Really liked the beginning which was a strange change of pace as James narrates some info on the life of General Custer, I'll admit he did a competent job it would be interesting seeing James do some documentaries. But anyway it was fitting for the topic at hand, I couldn't help but laugh at the face he made after he stopped talking for a moment, it was a face of sarcasm. I even liked some of his react which is the same as me as I'm just seeing some of the games he's playing like "Cat House Blues" which has a pretty disturbing concept also; seeing what happens in that game is just surreal, it's seeing things like that that makes me think what the hell was going though the developers heads.
This staple in video game history has almost been completely forgotten and well after seeing this it's understandable why.
